Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
To be born again is to experience a shift in our relational status before the Creator. Before Christ transforms our hearts, our sin creates a deep gulf between us and a holy God, and renders us distant, detached, and spiritually dead. Yet, when the Holy Spirit breathes new life into us, we do not merely receive a pardon from our sins from a “distant Judge.” Instead, the veil is torn, our old identity is erased, and we are brought directly into the inner courts of the Lord God Almighty. The miracle of regeneration instantly replaces the heavy chains of guilt with the unmerited favor of adoption into God’s family. Romans 1:16 tells us that the power of God unto salvation is given to the Jew first, then the Greek (non-Jews).
This spiritual rebirth grants us an awesome privilege: we are made true friends of God, just as Moses was in the tabernacle. A servant obeys out of duty and fear, operating on a strictly transactional basis without ever knowing the master’s heart. A friend, however, is invited into shared intimacy, deep conversation, and mutual trust. Because you are born again, you no longer have to approach the throne of grace with trembling terror; you can enter the presence of the Lord with the absolute confidence of a companion who is fully known, deeply loved, and entirely welcome.
Hebrews 10:19-22 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, (20) By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; (21) And having an high priest over the house of God; (22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Living as a friend of God should reshape our daily walk with Him. It means our prayer lives can transition from formal, rigid rituals into honest, face-to-face dialogues where we pour out our anxieties and listen for His still, small voice. Like the young Joshua who refused to leave the tabernacle, a true friend of God lingers in His presence simply out of a deep affection for who He is, rather than what He can provide. Your new birth has permanently secured your place at His table, transforming the Creator of the universe into your closest, most faithful confidant!!!
