If every one of us was illuminated by the Spirit of God, how we could light up the churches! But to have a lantern without any light, would be a nuisance. Many Christians carry along lanterns and say, “I wouldn’t give up my religion for yours.” They talk about religion. The religion that has no fire is like painted fire. These are artificial Christians. Do you belong to that class? You can tell. If you can’t, your friends can. D.L. Moody

The Anchored Soul – Day 29 – From Taking to Giving: The Mark of a Changed Heart
Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Colossians 3:8-10 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. (9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; (10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
It’s easy to think of repentance as merely feeling sorry for our mistakes or asking for forgiveness. But Scripture shows us that true repentance goes much deeper. The Greek word often used for repentance, metanoia, means a complete transformation of mind and heart. It results in a 180-degree turn in direction.
Notice how Paul paints this picture in Ephesians 4:28:
- Stop the old habit: “Let him that stole steal no more…”
- Start the new pattern: “…but rather let him labour, working with his hands…”
- Fulfill the new purpose: “…that he may have to give to him that needeth.”
Repentance isn’t just dropping a bad behavior; it is replacing a self-centered pattern with a Christ-centered one. The thief who used to take from others to serve himself becomes a generous giver who works to serve others. That is the power of being a new creature in Christ.
Do We See This Today?
In a world that often measures success by what we acquire, genuine repentance stands out like a beacon. Today, it’s easy to reduce faith to a simple intellectual agreement: believing about Jesus without letting Him transform our lives.
While salvation comes through faith in Christ alone, saving faith never stands still. When the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our hearts, our old desires gradually pass away, and new ones take their place, revealing Christ’s nature within us. True repentance isn’t a one-time event we check off a list; it is a daily, humble posture that produces righteous results.
When we yield to Christ each day, turning away from our selfish inclinations and stepping toward His holiness, we honor Him. We show a watching world that Jesus isn’t just a fire insurance policy for the future, but a living Saviour who changes who we are right now.
Reflection & Prayer
Pray: Lord Jesus, thank You for making me a new creation. Help me to walk in that truth today. Forgive me where I have fallen short, and grant me the grace to repent daily—turning away from my selfish ways and turning toward Your love, so that my life may honor You and bless those in need. Amen.
Reflect: Is there an area in your life where God is asking you not just to stop an old habit, but to actively replace it with something good and generous?
Quote by Charles Studd
Christ wants not nibblers of the possible, but grabbers of the impossible, by faith in the omnipotence, fidelity, and wisdom of the Almighty Saviour Who gave the command. Is there a wall in our path?
By our God we will leap over it! Are there lions and scorpions in our way?
We will trample them under our feet!
Does a mountain bar our progress?
Saying, ‘Be thou cast into the sea,’ we will march on. Soldiers of Jesus! Never surrender!

“ALONE, YET NOT ALONE.”
WHEN no kind earthly friend is near,
With gentle words my heart to cheer
Still am I with my Saviour dear:
“Alone, yet not alone.”
Though no loved forms my path attend.
With tender looks o’er me to bend, Yet I am with my unseen Friend:
“Alone, yet not alone.”
When sorely racked with pain and grief, Here I can find a sure relief;
And I rejoice in the belief:
“Alone, yet not alone.”
“Tis on His strength that I rely,
And doubts and fears at once defy, So happy, so content am I,
“Alone, yet not alone.”
E’en when with friends my lot is cast, And words of love are flowing fast, Still am I, when those hours are past,
“Alone, yet not alone.”
I all my earthly friends remove,
My fondest wishes empty prove,
Still am I with my Saviour’s love
“Alone, yet not alone.”
Whate’er may now to me betide, I have a place wherein to hide
By faith: ’tis e’en at His blest side:
“Alone, yet not alone.”

The Anchored Soul – Day 28 – Stormproof
Matthew 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Jesus does not say if the rain descends, but and the rain descended. In this life, trials are not merely a possibility; they are an absolute certainty. The storms of life, whether they come as a sudden medical diagnosis, financial strain, or emotional heartbreak, will beat against us. The wind will howl, and the floods of anxiety will rise.
When the tempest rages, the difference between collapsing and standing tall relies entirely on what cannot be seen: the foundation. A faith built on the shifting sands of our own effort, emotions, or worldly security will quickly wash away. But a faith anchored deeply in Jesus Christ cannot be shaken. It reminds me of the beautiful hymn, “Master the Tempest is Raging.”
No waters can swallow the ship where lies, the Master of ocean and earth and skies!
He is not just a temporary shelter; He is the bedrock. Standing on the Rock means choosing to trust His promises when your feelings tell you to panic. It means knowing that while the storm is powerful, the One holding you is all-powerful. As He calmed the sea while His disciples panicked, He can calm your sea of trial.
The beautiful truth of Matthew 7:25 is that the house survived the storm because of what it was built upon. Christ does not always stop the rain from falling, but He promises to be the immovable ground beneath your feet while it pours. You are never left to weather the storm alone. Because your life is securely anchored in Him, you can look out at the rising tide with peace, knowing that you will not fall.
What area of your life feels like it is being beaten by the storm right now? Take a moment to consciously hand that worry over to Jesus, reminding yourself that He is your unshakeable foundation.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for being my Rock. When the winds of life blow fiercely and the floods rise, help me to anchor my heart firmly in Your truth. Thank You for never leaving my side and for keeping me secure through every trial. Amen.
The Anchored Soul – Day 27 – Algorithms versus Truth
Revelation 3:15, 17 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
The church of Laodicea thought it was wealthy, self-sufficient, and thriving. Today, we live in the era of the social media church. It is a world driven by metrics, viral algorithms, and carefully curated content. Pulpits are too often filled with charlatans and false prophets who trade sound doctrine for clicks, comfort, and financial gain. They are truly wolves in sheep’s clothing!
Modern platforms give the illusion of spiritual abundance, but Christ’s diagnosis remains the same. Behind the high production value and worldly prosperity, much of the modern church landscape is spiritually poor, blind, and naked. True faith cannot be measured by follower counts or entertaining performances that leave souls starving. Preaching about sin from the pulpit is a rarity nowadays.
Jesus asked a piercing question about His visible Second Coming: “shall he find faith on the earth?” He was not asking if He would find large crowds, massive buildings, or trending religious hashtags. He was looking for deep, uncompromised, and enduring faith. In the sea of lukewarm compromise, Christ is still knocking on the door, looking for individuals who value truth over trends.
Do not let the flash and noise of the social media church distort your definition of real faith. Guard your heart against the deception in modern pulpits, and strive to be found faithful when the Son of man returns.
Quote by Hudson Taylor
Carrying the cross does mean following in Jesus’ footsteps. And in His footsteps are rejection, brokenheartedness, persecution and death. There are not two Christs – an easy going one for easy going Christians, and a suffering one for exceptional believers. There is only one Christ. Are we willing to follow His lead?

The Anchored Soul – Day 26 – Deployed on Foreign Soil
2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
An ambassador never belongs to the country where they are stationed. They are citizens of another realm, sent on an official diplomatic mission. As believers, the Earth is not our home. We are stationed here temporarily to represent the King of Kings, holding out the message of reconciliation to a broken world!
Ambassadors carry legal documentation proving their true citizenship. Our passport is our salvation, sealed by the Holy Spirit, which secures our position as the Bride of Christ. We carry the authority of the Kingdom of Heaven because our names are permanently written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
When war or severe conflict is imminent, a nation immediately recalls its ambassadors from foreign soil. They are brought safely home before the destruction begins. This is why the Bride of Christ is not on Earth when the Tribulation period starts. As the ultimate sign of upcoming judgment, God calls His ambassadors back to their true Country—Heaven! You are a citizen of Heaven on foreign deployment today. Occupy your station with urgency, share the gospel boldly, and live with the joyful expectation of being called Home before the storm. Hallelujah!
