The Anchored Soul – Day 23 – Testing the Tide

Every generation has faced deception, but God’s Word tells us that as the return of Christ draws near, it will increase with greater intensity. Truth will be challenged, compromise will be celebrated, and many voices will seek to draw hearts away from trusting God. The enemy doesn’t present a lie as an obvious lie. Instead, he disguises it with enough truth to make it seem trustworthy. This is why discernment is not optional for the believer—it is essential.

Psalm 40 reminds us where true security is found: “Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust.” The blessed life is not built upon human wisdom, popular opinion, or influential voices. It is built upon unwavering confidence in the Lord. When our trust is anchored in Him, we are no longer easily swayed by every new idea or every persuasive argument that stands against His Word.

The psalmist also warns us not to “respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.” This is not a call to look down on others, but a reminder to be careful whose example we follow. Pride always seeks to exalt itself above God, while deception always seeks to replace His truth. A heart that delights in the Lord will choose humility over self-exaltation and truth over convenience, even when the cost is great.

Today, ask the Lord to strengthen your heart. Let His Word become your daily foundation, and let prayer be your constant refuge. Test every message, every teaching, and every decision by the truth of Scripture. The voices of this world will continue to grow louder, but the voice of the Good Shepherd remains clear to those who know Him.

The storms of deception may increase, but the Rock beneath our feet never changes. Those who make the Lord their trust will stand firm when others are shaken, walk in peace when others are confused, and remain faithful until the day they see Christ face to face.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, keep my heart anchored in Your truth. Guard me from deception and give me discernment through Your Holy Spirit. Help me to trust You above every voice that competes for my attention, and give me the courage to walk in humility and obedience to Your Word. May my life remain steadfast, faithful, and pleasing to You until the day You return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
