Revelation 3:15, 17 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
The church of Laodicea thought it was wealthy, self-sufficient, and thriving. Today, we live in the era of the social media church. It is a world driven by metrics, viral algorithms, and carefully curated content. Pulpits are too often filled with charlatans and false prophets who trade sound doctrine for clicks, comfort, and financial gain. They are truly wolves in sheep’s clothing!
Modern platforms give the illusion of spiritual abundance, but Christ’s diagnosis remains the same. Behind the high production value and worldly prosperity, much of the modern church landscape is spiritually poor, blind, and naked. True faith cannot be measured by follower counts or entertaining performances that leave souls starving. Preaching about sin from the pulpit is a rarity nowadays.
Jesus asked a piercing question about His visible Second Coming: “shall he find faith on the earth?” He was not asking if He would find large crowds, massive buildings, or trending religious hashtags. He was looking for deep, uncompromised, and enduring faith. In the sea of lukewarm compromise, Christ is still knocking on the door, looking for individuals who value truth over trends.
Do not let the flash and noise of the social media church distort your definition of real faith. Guard your heart against the deception in modern pulpits, and strive to be found faithful when the Son of man returns.
