We are living in an age when it is becoming increasingly difficult to know what is real. Images can be created that never existed. Voices can be reproduced and you wonder if you’re listening to the actual person or a “version” of him. Words can be generated in seconds. Online, people can carefully construct versions of themselves that bear little resemblance to the person they are when no one else is watching. Technology may continue to change the way we communicate, but it can never change the deepest longing of the human heart—to know what is true! So what is true?

In a world where so much can be manufactured, God offers us something that cannot be altered, manipulated, or improved upon: His Word. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8. Cultures change — Technology advances. What seems impossible today may become ordinary tomorrow. When I was a kid, the cartoon “The Jetsons” was fun to watch. Never once did I think that some of those concepts would actually come true! Some actually did. But the truth of God does not need an update. It has stood through every generation and will remain when everything created by the hands of man has passed away.

Perhaps this is why authenticity has become so precious. Beneath all those filters, carefully chosen photographs, polished captions, and artificial voices, people are still searching for something genuine. And as believers, we have the privilege of offering something far greater than a perfectly curated image. We can offer the evidence of a life that has been changed by Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17) We do not have to pretend that we have never struggled. We do not have to create a flawless version of ourselves for the world to see. We simply need to walk honestly with the Lord. Why? Because that change is permanent!

God has never asked us to perform Christianity. He asks us to abide in Christ. A real faith is not one that appears perfect on the outside; it is one that continues to trust Him when no one is watching. It is a heart that repents when it fails, forgives when it has been hurt, and seeks the Lord in the quiet places where there is no audience and no applause. The world may be learning how to create artificial intelligence, but there is no substitute for a life genuinely surrendered to God. There is nothing artificial about that.

As the line between what is real and what is artificial becomes increasingly blurred, let us cling to the One who is Truth. Let our words be sincere, our love be genuine, and our faith be more than something we display. We may live in an artificial world, but we serve a living Saviour. And when everything else is changing around us, may our lives quietly point others to the One thing that will always remain true: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8
