The Anchored Soul – Day 39 – When the World Becomes Artificial, Be Real

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

We are living in an age when it is becoming increasingly difficult to know what is real. Images can be created that never existed. Voices can be reproduced and you wonder if you’re listening to the actual person or a “version” of him. Words can be generated in seconds. Online, people can carefully construct versions of themselves that bear little resemblance to the person they are when no one else is watching. Technology may continue to change the way we communicate, but it can never change the deepest longing of the human heart—to know what is true! So what is true?

In a world where so much can be manufactured, God offers us something that cannot be altered, manipulated, or improved upon: His Word. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8. Cultures change — Technology advances. What seems impossible today may become ordinary tomorrow. When I was a kid, the cartoon “The Jetsons” was fun to watch. Never once did I think that some of those concepts would actually come true! Some actually did. But the truth of God does not need an update. It has stood through every generation and will remain when everything created by the hands of man has passed away.

Perhaps this is why authenticity has become so precious. Beneath all those filters, carefully chosen photographs, polished captions, and artificial voices, people are still searching for something genuine. And as believers, we have the privilege of offering something far greater than a perfectly curated image. We can offer the evidence of a life that has been changed by Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17) We do not have to pretend that we have never struggled. We do not have to create a flawless version of ourselves for the world to see. We simply need to walk honestly with the Lord. Why? Because that change is permanent!

God has never asked us to perform Christianity. He asks us to abide in Christ. A real faith is not one that appears perfect on the outside; it is one that continues to trust Him when no one is watching. It is a heart that repents when it fails, forgives when it has been hurt, and seeks the Lord in the quiet places where there is no audience and no applause. The world may be learning how to create artificial intelligence, but there is no substitute for a life genuinely surrendered to God. There is nothing artificial about that.

As the line between what is real and what is artificial becomes increasingly blurred, let us cling to the One who is Truth. Let our words be sincere, our love be genuine, and our faith be more than something we display. We may live in an artificial world, but we serve a living Saviour. And when everything else is changing around us, may our lives quietly point others to the One thing that will always remain true: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

The Anchored Soul – Day 30 – Remembering in the Dark

We live in a world that is chronically forgetful. We live blessing to blessing, crisis to crisis, often forgetting the miracles of yesterday the moment a new shadow falls over today. When God commands us to remember, it isn’t because He has an ego that needs stroking or because He is worried His achievements will be forgotten in the history books. God tells us to remember His marvelous works because He knows the human heart is prone to spiritual amnesia.

Why is this command so vital for us?

1. Remembering is your “epi-pen” for Anxiety

When we look at a looming obstacle, our default setting is fear. We ask, “How will I ever get through this?” But when we deliberately look backward and trace God’s faithfulness, the question changes. We look at the past parted seas, the unexpected provisions, and the quiet comfort in lonely nights, and we realize: “The God who carried me then is the God who holds me now.” These memories change our perspective from panic to praise.

2. It Anchors Our Identity

Psalm 105 was written to remind the Israelites of their covenant history. By remembering the “wonders” and “judgments,” they remembered who they were, and more importantly, Whose they were. When life gets chaotic and you feel unattached, remembering what God has done anchors you. It reminds you that you are not an orphan traveling through a random universe; you are a child of the King who has a track record of showing up.

3. His Past Performance is a Prophecy of His Future Faithfulness

God’s character does not change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) Therefore, every “marvellous work” He has done in your past is a blueprint that reveals what He is capable of doing in your future. If He comforted you in grief before, He can do it again. If He provided a way out when there seemed to be none, He can do it again. Remembering bridges the gap between past gratitude and future hope.

Father, forgive me for how quickly I forget Your goodness. When a new trouble arises, my heart so easily panics. Today, I choose to pause and remember. I remember the prayers You answered, the burdens You lifted, and the silent ways You protected me. You have been so faithful to me. I place my tomorrow into the hands of the God who has always taken care of my yesterday. In Jesus’ precious Name I pray. Amen.

You Can’t Do Both!

I am absolutely amazed at how many “Christians” turn to their daily horoscope to see what’s in store for them! I never knew there were so many! 😮 Signs of the Zodiac have a demon attached to them. They represent a specific demon, specializing in the dark evils of the enemy. I would post examples here, but that is not the purpose of this writing. I am stunned at the number of Christians who dabble in Tarot readings, horoscopes, and other such things.

Most Christians don’t engage in psychic phenomena. But 27 percent consult astrology such as horoscopes at least once or twice a year, Pew Research found, with 9 percent turning to tarot cards and 6 percent to fortune tellers just as frequently. And while many respondents said such activities are mostly a fun pastime, 25 percent of Christians believe the astrological positions of the planets and stars impact their lives. That’s nearly as high as the 27 percent of the general U.S. adult population who say the same.

Although I am discouraged at the percentage reflected in this Pew Research, I am not surprised considering the “signs of the times” in which we live! I’ve heard believers say that when someone dies, they are made into angels. To a Christian that reads the Bible daily, we clearly see how ignorance prevails in today’s culture. Some believe there are good and bad witches. There’s no such thing as a good witch. There’s no such thing as harmless divination. All are harmful. Granted, the following verses are from the Old Testament, but God does not change and He feels the same way today as He did in these verses:

Deuteronomy 18:10-12  There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,  (11)  Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.  (12)  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

Exodus 22:18  Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Hebrews 13:8  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Why do you think the punishment is so great? We are warned not to be deceived in this world. The only way we can avoid deception is by knowing the truth! The simple-minded believer will most certainly be deceived! Know the truth! Read your Bible; highlight verses that speak to your heart; listen to the Holy Spirit as He guides and directs you! He will not lead you to have your horoscope read!

Romans 16:18  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Are you being deceived? Have you engaged in these “seemingly harmless” practices? They are not harmless at all.

Ephesians 4:14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Ephesians 5:6  Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Research and study before you dive into something that seems OK! Yoga, for example, has become a common practice. Some churches even have groups who hold “Christian yoga”! Do you know that each yoga pose is to honor a Hindu god? Why would a Christian be involved in something like this?!

As a born-again child of God, you cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons! Be a Joshua!

Joshua 24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Comforting Words

Things in this life are never constant. If there is one thing we can count on it’s that things will change. But do you know what? God never changes! We know that God helped David, then He will help you. We know that God can work miracles, then God can work a miracle in your life.

Hebrews 13:8  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

The first miracle that ever happened to me was when Jesus Christ saved my soul! If you knew me in my past life, you would have thought that there was no hope for me. I was lost as lost could be when it came to “religion,” wandering through life without direction, trying to deal with my feelings of emptiness and despair. God was the last thing on my mind when I laid my head on the pillow, and each night felt heavier than the last. So much so, I planned my suicide. Yet, in that dark moment, the light of His grace broke through the shadows of my doubts and fears. He sent a dear friend to show me how truly accepting God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, I could have a brand new life: a life that would transform my heart and give me a renewed sense of purpose and hope.

Today’s hymn was written by a woman who was blind but yet she truly could “see” Jesus! Despite her physical limitations, her unwavering faith illuminated her spirit, allowing her to perceive Jesus in ways that many with sight could not. Her faith was her sight, guiding her through the darkness and filling her heart with hope and love. I hope the words of this hymn speak to your heart, encouraging you to look beyond the surface of your challenges and to embrace the beauty of unseen blessings. May this message inspire you to recognize the powerful connection between faith and vision in your own life.

Take the World But Give Me Jesus – by Fanny Crosby

1 Take the world, but give me Jesus,
all its joys are but a name;
but his love abides forever,
through eternal years the same.

Refrain:
Oh, the height and depth of mercy!
Oh, the length and breadth of love!
Oh, the fullness of redemption,
pledge of endless life above!

2 Take the world, but give me Jesus,
sweetest comfort of my soul;
with the Savior watching o’er me,
I can sing, though thunders roll. [Refrain]

3 Take the world, but give me Jesus;
in his cross my trust shall be
till with clearer, brighter vision
face to face my Lord I see. [Refrain]

One day, we will all have to face Jesus Christ, the moment that every individual must confront, regardless of their beliefs or circumstances. That time is appointed to everyone, and there is no getting around it; it serves as a reminder of accountability for our actions. As we journey through life, we may often stray from this truth, but ultimately, each soul will have to reckon with their choices and the impact they have made.

Hebrews 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
