Revelation 2:10 – Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Isn’t it just like our Lord and Saviour to encourage His children when they come face-to-face with danger and death! When a believer walks with the Lord, he will never taste spiritual death. In fact, that believer will only see that his physical death is merely a shadow of things to come. The believer never sees total darkness, which is what eternity in hell is like (see Matthew 22:13). Instead, the believer sees only a shadow!
Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
The shadow a believer sees is of his physical death. The born-again believer’s physical death will result in bright eternal light with the Lord! The shadow appears just as a cloud passes over the sun’s light. But once that cloud passes by, the sun’s brightness shines through. We do not need to be afraid to die, for whatever the circumstance!
Jesus promised us through the Apostle Paul that believers will not feel the sting of death! I firmly believe that the Lord brings His peace through our last moments and removes the fear of dying.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. (57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you are one of those believers who is afraid to die, I pray that this post has encouraged your heart. Don’t be afraid, no matter what path is leading you to death. If it is because of illness or witnessing for Christ, He promises to give you peace through this valley!
