Soar As Eagles – God’s Promises
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
Anyone who has read Romans chapter 11 can see that the olive tree represents Israel. God has not abandoned Israel for the Church – Israel remains the olive tree. But now, the Church is grafted into the tree as its branches. It does not mean that we must follow Jewish traditions and laws. It means that as Israel is part of God’s redemptive plan through their Messiah, the Church is also part of God’s redemptive plan because of Israel’s Messiah, our Saviour Jesus Christ! Because of Jesus’s death on the cross and His shed blood is for all (John 3:16), the Gentiles can now have salvation through the Jewish Messiah! Praise the Lord!
Certainly not all promises made to Israel pertain to the Church, as we see throughout Scripture, and specifically the Tribulation prophecies. However, there are some verses that we as believers can enjoy and be comforted by. Today’s verse is one of those verses that I find great comfort and pleasure. Let’s pick it apart and I will share what the Lord has blessed me with:
- The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty: Jehovah God is not in the midst of Israel only but He is in our midst as well! Jesus’s presence, through the Holy Spirit of the Living God, walks in the midst of the Church!
- Revelation 1:12-13 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; (13) And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
- He will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy:
- Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Psalm 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
- He will rest in his love:
- Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- He will joy over thee with singing: Because we are part of the olive tree, and God’s character never changes, we can rest in knowing that the Lord joys over the Church with singing as well. One of my favorite hymns in “Beulah Land”! The Church longs for Beulah Land just as much as our Jewish brothers and sisters.
- Isaiah 62:4-5 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. (5) For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

Soar As Eagles – Hope in the Darkness
Lamentations 3:21-26 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. (22) It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. (23) They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (24) The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. (25) The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. (26) It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Are you in the middle of a trial in your life that you feel as though you can’t overcome? You are not alone! There are so many believers undergoing severe testing these days, each wrestling with their own unique struggles. I think of the Christians who are being persecuted and murdered by the hundreds in Nigeria, facing unimaginable hardships and dangers for their faith, and it makes my trial seem so insignificant in comparison. But no one is truly insignificant to God; every struggle matters to Him, no matter how large or small it may seem. Yes, many are going through trials far worse than mine, and their enduring faith inspires me deeply. However, I truly believe that not everyone could endure my trial to the same degree, nor could I imagine myself facing the harrowing realities that those Christian Nigerians are courageously confronting daily. Their strength serves as a testament to the power of faith, reminding me that while my trials may feel isolating, there is a community of believers holding each other up in prayer, support, and love, allowing us to find hope even in our darkest moments.
While going through my trial, it’s important for me to continue with the same Bible reading habit, the same prayer habit, and actually dive a little deeper in my Bible study time. These habits are what will help me to get through my trials, serving as both a refuge and a source of strength. Many Christians throw their hands in the air and give up the moment a trial comes upon them, giving in to despair and the pressures of their circumstances. But this is precisely when the Christian must buckle down and hold fast to what the Lord has done in his life in the past; we must remember that faith often flourishes in the midst of adversity. When we hold on to the past victories, we remember with thanksgiving all that the Lord has done! This reflection acts as a reminder that we are never alone in our struggles, as God is faithful and will guide us through just as He has done in the past. Such memories become our faith builder, fortifying our trust in Him and encouraging us to persevere.
Hang on, Christian! Don’t give up. There is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel, shining brightly even in the darkest of times. You are not alone; if you do feel alone, reach out to another believer that truly cares about you and your journey! The Lord put believers together so we can hold each other up in times of need, providing strength and support when life becomes overwhelming. Remember, it’s in these challenging moments that we can lean on each other, share our burdens, and find comfort in the love of Christ. Together, we can navigate through the struggles, finding hope and encouragement in our faith.

Do You Have a Wayward Child?
Being the mother of a prodigal son, the holidays are super hard on me! 😢 I wrote this devotional to help those other mothers who are estranged from one or more of their children. ❤️ It not only helped me to heal but I pray that it will be a blessing to others!!
