A Mother’s Heart – Day 7 – The Blame Game

The blame game is not anything new. It has been going on since the Garden of Eden and the fall of man! Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent. Adam went as far as saying that “The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree.” I had never noticed this before, but do you see just a hint of blaming God there as well? I think we’ve all said it at one point or another: God, why have you done this to me? Sometimes our trials are due to our own actions, and sometimes they are allowed by God to mold us into His image. This tendency to shift blame has permeated human history, more so today than ever before.

I can’t tell you how many mothers I know who are living this nightmare! But what about when your child blames you for everything that has gone wrong in his life? It raises questions about the nature of responsibility and accountability. Children often search for a scapegoat when faced with challenges, and as parents, we may feel the weight of those accusations. Where is the fine line between blaming the parents and taking responsibility for their actions in their adult lives? This dynamic can create a cycle of resentment and avoidance, where lessons go unlearned and growth is stunted.

What about those children who stop talking to their parents altogether so there is no hope of open dialogue or resolution? That is what I’m living through right now: unanswered questions, and unending doubts. One thing I do know for certain is that the Lord has not abandoned me to go through this calamity alone. In fact, He is the best solution to my problems!

Granted, David was fleeing from Saul and hiding in a cave when he wrote this Psalm. However, the same deep fear and anxiety he experienced lies deeply in the mother’s heart. The challenges we mothers face in today’s evil world are some that have not been experienced by previous generations. We are living in the end times, and the hearts of men are growing desperately cold. There are so many parts of these three verses above that apply to us, aren’t there? Do you see yourself in them, feeling overwhelmed by the demands of parenting and daily life? As I steer through this troubling time, I battle the uncertainties and pressures that come with being a mother of an adult man. However, I find myself being strengthened in my spirit, drawing inspiration from David’s words. His struggles mirror our own as we seek to balance our roles; fear is gradually replaced with a sense of peace and assurance, reminding us that we are not alone and that we can find peace and comfort in the midst our trials.

What a wonderful God we serve! We can trust Him to change the heart of our child just as He did ours at our salvation, providing us with hope and understanding through His love and grace. We should not abandon our children even when a child turns against us; rather, we must approach them with compassion and patience, reflecting the forgiveness we received from the Father. Yes, we have to hold them accountable, just as Jesus held the woman at the well accountable. But we won’t find a resolution when both sides are bitter and angry.

My pain has softened in the past eighteen months, and I feel certain it is because of the healing hand of my Heavenly Father. Don’t get me wrong, the pain is still there but it does not sting as it used to. The Lord is guiding me through the trials and tribulations of parenthood and teaching me the importance of unwavering faith in His perfect plan. It’s important that your child sees that as well! As you surrender your worries and fears to Him, you will grow stronger in your own relationship, learning to cherish each moment and trust in the transforming power of God’s love.

Consider yourself blessed if your child still speaks to you, even after he has blamed you for everything. I am not a counsellor, but I do know that if my son still spoke to me, I would encourage us to have honest and open communication. As difficult as it would be, I would listen intently to his accusations, understanding the root of his anger and that his words are coming from the enemy. The enemy would receive no greater joy than to destroy your family. I encourage you to listen with merciful ears and a loving heart. Try not to be defensive, justifying why you did certain things as parents. Just listen. Then, if you are able, pray with your child asking the Lord to work in both your lives to accomplish His will. If your child is opposed to prayer and insists on his point being the final word, then it may be time to stop the one-sided conversation and let it rest until emotions are not so heated. The old adage, “Time heals all wounds” is not always true. But it can diffuse a volatile situation. Wait on God’s timing; the Holy Spirit will reveal it to you.

Our world today is being bombarded by ungrateful children with negative attitudes, making it increasingly difficult for parents to deal with the challenges of parenting. Yes, as parents we’ve made mistakes, as all those parents before us, and we would love a “do-over,” but that’s not going to happen! Instead, we must learn from our experiences and strive to guide our children with greater wisdom and love. We cannot change the heart of an embittered child, but God can! It is in His hands that we find hope and healing, as we pray for understanding and compassion to seep into their hearts. Make no mistake, the Lord hears your cries.

God’s Word is the only thing that makes permanent changes to the heart, not only in your child’s but in yours as well. We must not allow ourselves to become bitter over the venomous words our child has spoken, as such negativity can cloud our judgment and cause our hearts to be hardened. Instead, by immersing ourselves in Scripture and allowing its teachings to influence our lives, we can have a more loving and patient reaction that will ultimately bring healing and connection within our family.

I will share the verses below each day, so we remember Who is working behind the scenes and in our own lives. He loves you so glorify, bless and praise His Name:

Waiting on God’s Timing: Trust His Perfect Plan

Waiting for God to work in certain trials in my life is probably the most difficult thing for me. It is a woman’s natural instinct to fix what is broken in her family and in her home; we often feel it is our responsibility to ensure that everything runs smoothly. However, there are times when we must stop trying to fix things and simply wait on the Lord, trusting that His timing is perfect. Not everything needs our fixing, and not everything requires our intervention. Sometimes, what we perceive as chaos is actually a necessary part of God’s greater plan, teaching us patience and perseverance. But you know what? God can fix and intervene in everything, bringing about healing and restoration in ways we could never imagine or achieve on our own. It is in surrendering to God’s will that we find true peace and clarity, understanding that, ultimately, we are not in control, but rather part of a divine design that is unfolding before us.

This is why God tells us to wait on Him. A loving and compassionate God tells us to wait! Why God? I can’t wait to have this heartache healed! I can’t wait to have my body restored to good health, free from pain and filled with the energy I once had! I can’t wait for this relationship to be knit back together, where love and understanding flourish! But God, in His infinite mercy and compassion, wants us to trust in Him and wait for His work and results, knowing that His timing is perfect and His plans for us are filled with hope and promise. In moments of uncertainty, we may feel tempted to take matters into our own hands, yet God gently reminds us that true healing, restoration, and reconciliation come through patience and faith in His perfect plan. In waiting, we cultivate a deeper relationship with Him, learning to rely not on our own understanding but on His divine wisdom that governs every aspect of our lives.

Psalm 27:14  Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psalm 37:34  Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

I do believe the most quoted Bible verses for difficult times was written by the prophet Isaiah. The prophet encourages readers to wait on the Lord because He does not get tired; He does not faint from being overworked. The same God who was with Isaiah is with us. He doesn’t waiver; He doesn’t quit because the work is too hard. He is always there to help you through your most difficult times!

Isaiah 40:28-31  Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.  (29)  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.  (30)  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  (31)  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

You may not get an answer to your trial today, but it will come! In His time. One thing you can know for certain, His time will be the perfect time. I often wonder when the Lord will heal my broken relationships. I want Him to hurry; to put all this pain behind me. He reminds me that He knows the outcome and is diligently working daily toward that outcome. I may not see his day-to-day work; He never sleeps and work for the Lord never stops. He’s building a testimony in my children, just as He did for me behind the scenes. I didn’t know God was at work, but He was. Looking back on my life, I can clearly see where He was and what He was doing. He opened doors; He removed barriers.

What is gripping your heart today? What pains, what fears are so deeply rooted that you can’t see an end? It’s not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, as they can weigh heavily on our spirits. In moments like these, it’s so important to seek solace and understanding through the power of music. Listen to the song above and read these lyrics, allowing the melody and the words to speak to you. It’s a well-known song, and has impactful words that encourage the heart! These lyrics remind us that we’re not alone in our struggles, and that even in the darkest times, there is a glimmer of hope waiting to guide us toward brighter days.

In His Time – By Linda Ball, Diane Ball

In His Time, In His Time,
He Makes All Things Beautiful In His Time.
Lord, Please Show Me Everyday
As You’re Teaching Me Your Way,
That You Do Just What You Say In Your Time.

In Your Time, In Your Time,
You Make All Things Beautiful In Your Time.
Lord, My Life To You I Bring,
With Its Winter And Its Spring,
May I Fathom Everything In Your Time.

There’s A Time, There’s A Time
Both For Sowing And For Reaping There’s A Time.
Time For Losing, Time For Gain,
Time For Joy And Time For Pain,
Every Purpose Under Heaven Has A Time.

There Are Times, There Are Days,
Weeks And Months We Cannot Understand God’s Ways.
If For Years We Fail To Scan
What Is His Eternal Plan,
We’ll Remember That He Can, All The Time.

The Book of Psalms has always been my “go to” Scriptures when my spirit is weary! It always brings encouragement and healing during those times. Where are you in your life, reader? Are you in need of healing your broken spirit? Be encouraged! Know that the God who never sleeps is working … In His Time!

If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, it’s time yous settle the matter. Don’t wait! The Scriptures laid out on this page will help you to come into fellowship with a Saviour who loves you and died for you!

Comfort During the End Times – Day 4

Psa 27:4  One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

Good morning, Reader! As I read through today’s verse and seek answers for my heart during these troubling times, I find myself thankful that I will indeed be in God’s house soon. The Rapture could happen at any time, my friend! God is patient and doesn’t want anyone to die and go to Hell. He is leaving the door to Heaven open as long as possible so the Church, the Bride, can be added to as much as possible. His mercy will even extend to those who live during the Tribulation. He will give them every opportunity to be saved but, unfortunately, those people will go through the most terrible times ever to come to this earth.

Notice as well that David mentions that he will seek after: to dwell in the Lord’s house, to behold the Lord’s beauty, and to ask questions in the Lord’s temple. In these last days, friend, we should be seeking these exact same things:

Dwell in the house of the Lord: One cannot go to the Lord’s house (Heaven) unless one is born again. (John 3:3, John 3:7, 1 Peter 1:23) Only the saved will have the privilege of going to Heaven. (John 14:2, 14:3)

Behold the Lord’s beauty: We know that we born-again believers are saved from the wrath to come which gives us a fellowship with the Lord. We see Him in a new light since our salvation. We understand what He went through in order for us to be forgiven of our sins. We behold Him in our hearts as wonderful and beautiful! We long for the day where we can see Him face to face! (Isaiah 33:17, Psalm 50:2)

Enquire in the Lord’s temple: I know I will have a lot of questions to ask once I get to Heaven. I will be able to ask Jesus to tell me about all the times He appeared in the Old Testament to guide Israel. I’ll be able to ask Him anything and He will answer!

As a believer, today’s verse comforts me because it is a promise to me.

Even though the world is falling apart around me, I know that there are better days ahead for the believer! It comforts me in troubling times.

You may be one who is afraid to get saved because your family will think your nuts. The Lord promises us in Psalm 27:10 that the Lord will “lift” you. He will encourage you and comfort your heart in those times. He strengthens His children and doesn’t leave them abandoned! (Psalm 27:14)

Encouraging your own heart involves effort on your part, Reader. You cannot leave this task to other people as they will eventually let you down. But God never lets you down. Singing praises to Him does something to my heart. My discouraged heart begins to change and I am focusing my thoughts on God and not my circumstances.

It’s amazing how the Lord changes the heart when we praise Him! (Psalm 147:1) It is the best medicine in times like these.

Are you discouraged when you listen to the daily news? Stop listening to that and start listening to God’s Word. Let Him speak to you and heal you! (Psalm 147:3) He understands what you are going through and will encourage you if you do your part. (Psalm 147:5)

For those readers today, anything worth having in your life is worth working for. Do you have salvation? If you do, then once the Rapture happens, you will be in Heaven when the Tribulation happens. In the meantime, dive into God’s Word and allow the Holy Spirit to encourage you. For those who have not committed their life to the Lord Jesus, do so before it’s eternally too late. He is the only One who can bring you comfort and encouragement in the upcoming days. There are no guarantees that you will get saved during the Tribulation. In fact, most people will have hardened hearts going into the Tribulation and they will not seek after God.

Rom 2:5  But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Don’t wait! Get comfort now and be encouraged now!

Remember, before the Antichrist can sign a peace treaty with Israel, there must be a war. We are heading towards that at the moment. The war in the Ukraine is stirring up the hearts of evil men and they will connive to come against Israel. The end times will revolve around Israel. The Bible says that Russia and its accomplices will rise to this level. So friend, times are getting harder and every aspect of life is changing before our very eyes in order to usher in these end times and the Antichrist’s reign. Times are not going to get better or easier. We must learn to encourage ourselves in the Lord in order to make it through these times.

There a beautiful hymn that tells us what to do during these times and I love the lyrics. Have you heard it?

In Times Like These Lyrics

In times like these you need a Savior,
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

This Rock is Jesus, Yes He’s the One,
This Rock is Jesus, the only One;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock
!

In times like these you need the Bible,
In times like these, O be not idle;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

This hymn reflects 2 Timothy 3:1 perfectly! I’m not trying to be a negative Nancy but Scripture warns us of these end times. Therefore, it is up to you to pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and change your current habits about your relationship with the Lord. Get serious about your walk with Him and allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead and guide you. Don’t be willfully ignorant of the end times. (2 Peter 3:5) If you are not born-again, confess your sins and repent of them. The time is coming when it will be too late for you to repent. You will remember each opportunity you were given by God to be saved; you will remember each time you laughed it off and ignored it. Please Reader, repent and accept Christ into your life. (Act 16:31, Rom 10:9) I want to be sure that anyone who reads the posts on this blog can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are going to Heaven. Have you received Christ as your Saviour? If no, your sins are not covered by His sacrificial offering of Himself. You have not been redeemed by His blood. It is no coincidence that God has placed you here for such a time as this so that you may be saved if you are not already.
