Obama’s Rev. Wright Mythology

By: Ronald Kessler

In his speech on race, Barack Obama tried to explain away his longtime minister’s denunciations of America by saying that for blacks of his generation, memories of “humiliation and doubt and fear have not gone away.”

But an examination by Newsmax of the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.’s background reveals that Obama’s characterization of his upbringing is mythology.

Described by Obama as his sounding board and mentor for more than two decades, Wright was born in Philadelphia in 1941. He lived in a racially mixed section called Germantown, which consisted of homes on broad tree-lined streets in northwest Philadelphia. The owners then were middle-class families.

For 62 years, Wright’s father, the Rev. Jeremiah Alvesta Wright, was pastor at Grace Baptist Church of Germantown. He was one of the first blacks to receive a degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

Wright’s mother, Mary Elizabeth Henderson Wright, was a schoolteacher. She was the first black to teach an academic subject at Roosevelt Junior High, the first to teach at Germantown High, and the first to teach at the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She became vice principal of Girls High in 1968.

Rather than attend the more racially mixed Germantown High School at 40 East High St., Wright traveled a few miles to the elite Central High School at 1700 West Olney Ave., graduating in 1959. Opened in 1838, Central High has a distinguished past and admits only highly-qualified applicants who are privileged to attend from all over the city. It is comparable to the Bronx High School of Science and Boston Latin School, both public schools known for academic excellence.

When Wright attended Central High, the student body was 90 percent white, according to students who attended around the same time. At least three-quarters of the students were Jewish. Former students of the period say racial tension did not exist.

Bill Cosby, who attended the school until transferring to Germantown High, has referred to Central as a “wonderful” school. In contrast to Wright, Cosby has denounced blacks who take refuge in self-pitying victimhood and seek to blame whites for problems in the black community.

“Central High was a marvelous academic environment,” says Tod Mammuth, who graduated in 1965 and is now a Philadelphia-area lawyer. “You had to have high academic credentials to be accepted and a high IQ score. Many later said it was more rigorous than college. We had no racial friction.”

In college, “I was so far advanced from the normal kids, it was almost unbelievable,” says H. Yale Gutnick, who graduated from Central High in 1960 and is a Pittsburgh lawyer. “In my freshman year, I didn’t have to do anything. I had already read most of what we had to read in English class, and I was equally advanced in the other academic areas.”

The 211th class yearbook described Wright as a respected member of the class.

“Always ready with a kind word, Jerry is one of the most congenial members of the 211,” the yearbook said. “His record in Central is a model for lower class [younger] members to emulate.”

Saying Wright can be compared to the school handbook’s description of “an educated man,” the description said Wright was “the epitome of what Central endeavors to imbue in its students.”

Next to a photo of Wright wearing black-rimmed glasses, the yearbook listed seven extra-curricular activities, including junior varsity football, band, school orchestra, and swing band.

In contrast to Wright’s comfortable upbringing, Morton A. Klein, who also attended Central High around the same time, lived in a poor, virtually all-black section called West Oak Lane.

“Four times a year, we would go to get big boxes of used clothing that was our wardrobe for the year. I never resented it. I was thrilled with my clothes,” says Klein, who was an economist in the Nixon, Ford, and Carter administrations and is now president of the Zionist Organization of America.

Obama Remarks Give Keen Insight To His Marxist Philosophy

By Bill Wilson, Daily Jot News Service Senior Analyst

WASH—Apr 15—DJNS– Democratic Presidential candidate B. Hussein Obama’s remarks about Americans being bitter and clinging to their beliefs regarding religion, guns, anti-free trade and anti-immigration have been characterized as “out of touch”, “condescending”, “patronizing,” and “elitist.” While all these may well be true, Obama’s remarks encapsulate his political philosophy which are against the Constitution of the United States and are steeped in Marxism and communism. Obama said of small town Pennsylvania voters: “Its not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Let’s break this down. Obama is saying that when economic times are rough middle class Americans get bitter and cling to guns or religion. The First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees religious freedom. The Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms. Further, he says these bitter middle class Americans have “antipathy” against people who are not like them. One definition of antipathy is “an instinctive contrariety”. American just might have an instinctive contrariety to the government not protecting the borders of the United States. And they may just have an anti-trade sentiment because the government is not protecting America‘s job base. These are Constitutional national security issues.

In Obama’s book “Dreams from my Father”, Obama writes of his mentor “Frank.” Frank has been identified as Frank Marshall Davis, an active member of the communist party in Hawaii who helped shape the young Obama’s political views. Accuracy in Media (AIM) reports that Obama, himself, likens the intimate influence of Frank Marshall Davis on his life as that of a father. AIM writes that Frank Chapman, a Communist Party USA supporter, wrote of Obama to the party newspaper after Obama’s Iowa caucus victory: “Obama’s victory was more than a progressive move; it was a dialectical leap ushering in a qualitatively new era of struggle.’

The communist Chapman continued about Obama, “Marx once compared revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface. This (Obama) is the old revolutionary ‘mole,’ not only showing his traces on the surface but also breaking through.” Communism and Islamism are the antithesis of Judaism and Christianity. The Apostle Paul warned of such in the latter days in 2 Timothy 3:13, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” Can one man or one woman destroy the covenant of a nation with God? Deceived Americans rush to discover.

Obama promises ‘gays’ ‘strongest possible bill’

Obama in interview with the Advocate (advocate.com)

In a sit-down interview with the “gay” magazine the Advocate, Sen. Barack Obama said, if elected, he foresees eliminating the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell policy” and passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, opposed by many faith-based groups that argue it would force them to accept homosexuals in leadership.

Obama indicated he wants the bill to include protection for transgenders, but acknowledged opposition in Congress is strong, noted David Brody, senior national correspondent for the Christian Broadcasting Network’s news division, or CBN News.

“I think that’s going to be tough, and I’ve said this before. I have been clear about my interest in including gender identity in legislation, but I’ve also been honest with the groups that I’ve met with that it is a heavy lift through Congress,” he said.

“We’ve got some Democrats who are willing to vote for a non-inclusive bill, but we lose them on an inclusive bill, and we just may not be able to generate the votes,” Obama continued. “I don’t know. And obviously, my goal would be to get the strongest possible bill – “that’s what I’ll be working for.”

Obama also boasted he’s been more “vocal on gay issues to general audiences than any other presidential candidate probably in history.”

As WND reported last month, Obama issued an open letter to the “LGBT community” assuring them he believes in “full equality” for homosexuals and stating that, unlike Sen. Hillary Clinton, he advocates the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act.

In the letter, published on a campaign blog, Obama says he’s “running for president to build an America that lives up to our founding promise of equality for all – a promise that extends to our gay brothers and sisters.”

Obama said that throughout his career he has “fought to eliminate discrimination against LGBT (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Americans.”

The Democratic senator told the Advocate another priority in an Obama administration would be to make sure federal employees have the “ability to transfer health or pension benefits the same way that opposite-sex couples do.”

Obama said he thinks it can be accomplished “with some opposition, some turbulence, but I think we can get that done.”

He also wants to ensure federal benefits are available to same-sex couples who have a civil union.

“I think as more states sign civil union bills into law the federal government should be helping to usher in a time when there’s full equality in terms of what that means for federal benefits,” he said.

Asked if he were referring to the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, Obama replied, “Absolutely, and I for a very long time have been interested in repeal of DOMA.”

The Defense of Marriage Act is a law signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996 that says the federal government and individual states are not required to recognize a same-sex marriage, even if it is recognized by another state. Obama also has called for repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy of barring personnel from disclosing homosexual behavior or “orientation” while preventing authorities from investigating it.

The Christian Broadcasting Network’s Brody noted Obama appeals to some evangelicals, but “too much pro-choice, pro-gay rights talk will turn them off … along with some of the African American vote.”

In his letter issued last month, Obama says “having the right positions on the issues is only half the battle. The other half is to win broad support for those positions. And winning broad support will require stepping outside our comfort zone.”

Along with repealing the Defense of Marriage Act and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and implementing “fully inclusive laws outlawing hate crimes, he says, it’s important to bring “the message of LGBT equality to skeptical audiences as well as friendly ones, and that’s what I’ve done throughout my career.”

“I will never compromise on my commitment to equal rights for all LGBT Americans,” Obama says. “But neither will I close my ears to the voices of those who still need to be convinced. That is the work we must do to move forward together. It is difficult. It is challenging. And it is necessary.”

‘I haven’t been silent on gay issues’

The Advocate, in the preface to its Q&A with Obama, stated the presidential candidate “has been weathering a small storm lately in the LGBT community for being too tight-lipped with gay and lesbian news media.”

Obama insisted that was not a fair statement, arguing “all press feels that way at all times,” and he emphasizes speaking to general, rather than specialized press outlets.

“But I haven’t been silent on gay issues,” he said, contending, “I actually have been much more vocal on gay issues to general audiences than any other presidential candidate probably in history.”

The Advocate then asked: “I think the underlying fear of the gay community is that if you get into office, will LGBT folks be last on the priority list?”

Obama replied: “I guess my point would be that the fact that I’m raising issues accordant to the LGBT community in a general audience rather than just treating you like a special interest that is sort of off in its own little box – that, I think, is more indicative of my commitment.’

“Ultimately what that shows,” Obama said, “is that I’m not afraid to advocate on your behalf outside of church, so to speak. It’s easy to preach to the choir; what I think is harder is to speak to a broader audience about why these issues are important to all Americans.”

Asked what event or person has most affected his perceptions of or relationship to the “LGBT community,” Obama said “it starts with my mom, who just always instilled in me a belief that everybody’s of equal worth and a strong sense of empathy – that you try to see people through their eyes, stand in their shoes. So I think that applies to how I see all people.”

Obama’s Education

year

event

1968

The “An American Expat in Southeast Asia” blog reports that Obama’s Indonesian schooling began when he was entered into the Roman Catholic, Franciscus Assisi Primary School, in Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 1, 1968 and sat in class 1B. He was registered under the name Barry Soetoro, serial number 203. School documents listed Barry Soetoro as an Indonesian citizen and his religion was listed as Islam.

Catholic schools accept non-Catholics worldwide. Non-Catholic students are typically excused from religious instruction and ceremony.

1968 Does Obama enjoy dual-citizenship to this day?

1969

Obama enters Class 2 of the Assisi Primary School.

1970

Obama enters Class 3 of the Assisi Primary School.

1971

Obama’s family moves from H Ramir Street to Dempo Street.

1971

Obama enters the Besuki Primary School, a government school. He was enrolled as Barry Soetoro, Muslim.

Iis Darmawan, 63, Obama’s teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. “He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,'” the teacher said.

His third grade teacher, Fermina Katarina Sinaga, now 67, asked her class to write an essay titled “My dream: What I want to be in the future.” Obama wrote “I want to be a President,” she said.

Obama’s sister Maya, has also said, “There was always a joke between my mom and Barack that he would be the first black president.”

Ten years old and already he wants to be president? Over and over, he expresses his desire to become president.

It is an underlying theme throughout his life.

1971

All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school and a young Barry Soetoro, being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in school.

He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam.

In his autobiography, “Dreams From My Father,” Obama mentions studying the Quran and describes the public school as “a Muslim school.”

“In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Koranic studies.“

According to Tine Hahiyary, one of Obama’s teachers and the principal from 1971 through 1989, Barry actively took part in the Islamic religious lessons during his time at the school. His teacher was named Maimunah and she lived in the Puncak area, the Cianjur Regency.

“I remembered that he had studied “mengaji” (recitation of the Quran)” Tine said.

Our guy in Jakarta writes: “The actual usage of the word ‘mengaji’ in Indonesian and Malaysian societies means the study of learning to recite the Quran in the Arabic language rather than the native tongue. “Mengagi” is a word and a term that is accorded the highest value and status in the mindset of fundamentalist societies here in Southeast Asia. To put it quite simply, ‘mengaji classes’ are not something that a non practicing or so-called moderate Muslim family would ever send their child to. To put this in a Christian context, this is something above and beyond simply enrolling your child in Sunday school classes.”

“The fact that Obama had attended mengaji classes is well known in Indonesia and has left many there wondering just when Obama is going to come out of the closet.”

“As I’ve stated before, the evidence seems to quite clearly show that both Ann Dunham and her husband Lolo Soetoro Mangunharjo were in fact devout Muslims themselves and they raised their son as such.”

The Obama Campaign told the LA Times he wasn’t a “practicing Muslim.”
(3/14/2007)

But his official website says: “Obama Has Never Been A Muslim, And Is a Committed Christian” (11/12/2007)

This is the basic problem with Obama — his dissimulation.

1972

In 2007, classmate Rony Amiris describes young Barry as enjoying playing football and marbles and of being a very devout Muslim. Amir said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam.

“We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house. If he was wearing a sarong he looked funny,” said Rony.

Amiris now the manager of the Bank Mandiri, Jakarta, recently said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. His birth father, Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim economist from Kenya. Before marrying Ann Dunham, Hussein Obama was married to a woman from Kenya who had seven children. All the relatives of Barry’s father were very devout Muslims”

Rony extrapolates further, that Obama at one point had to change his religion if he ever intended later to run for the office of President of the United States because America would never elect a Muslim to the be President of the United States.

1972

Also in 2007, Emirsyah Satar, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, was quoted as saying, “He (Obama) was often in the prayer room wearing a ‘sarong’, at that time.”

“He was quite religious in Islam but only after marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.”

1972

Upon Dunham’s divorce from Lolo she sent 10-year-old Barack to live with her parents in Honolulu, while she and his half-sister, Maya, stayed in Indonesia.

Barry Soetoro is enrolled in the fifth grade at the prestigious Punahou School and begins his transformation to Barack Hussein Obama.

1973
to
1979

Obama’s classmate and friend, Keith “Ray” Kakugawa, said. “Barry’s biggest struggles then were missing his parents. His biggest struggles were his feelings of abandonment.

While at Punahou School, Obama turns into a disenchanted teenage rebel, experimenting with cocaine and marijuana. Obama admits in “Dreams” that during high school he frequently smoked marijuana, drank alcohol, even used cocaine occasionally.

In his book, Obama recalls that he had “been headed” to the status of “junkie” or “pothead”, which he describes as “the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man”. He recalls smoking “reefer” in the backs of his friends’ vans, dorm rooms and “on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who had dropped out of school.”

Obama, told a group of students in New Hampshire that his drug use had caused him to “waste a lot of time” during his high school years.

Bryon Leong, a former classmate, remembers, “He was known as a partier, as a guy looking for a good time, but not much more,” Mr Leong said. “There was pot in Hawaii in the 1970s, but it wasn’t a big deal.”

“It wasn’t like guys were smoking dope on campus and coming to school high,” said Eric Kusunoki, 57, Obama’s teacher from age 15 to 18. “If they did, it would have been pretty obvious. If he did dabble with drugs or alcohol, I didn’t see it.”

Other schoolmates also remember his time at school rather differently. He was a spoiled high-achiever, they recall, who seemed as fond of his grandparents as they were of him.

One of his former classmates, Alan Lum, said: “Hawaii is such a melting pot that it didn’t occur to me when we were growing up that he might have problems about being one of the few African-Americans at the school. Us kids didn’t see color. He was easy-going and well-liked.”

Lon Wysard, who also attended the academy, said the budding politician was in fact idolized for his keen sportsmanship.

“He was the star basketball player and always had a ball in his hand wherever he was,” Wysard recalled.

At school, Obama was surrounded by the island’s richest and most accomplished students. America Online founder Steve Case, actress Kelly Preston and former Dallas Cowboys lineman Mark Tuinei, who died in 1999, attended the school around that time. Pro golf sensation Michelle Wie, 17, is a student there now (2006).

In his yearbook pictures, Obama wears a 1970s-style wide-collared shirt and sports jacket, his hair in a neatly trimmed afro that covers the tops of his ears.

He added a photo of himself playing basketball, and a shot entitled “Still Life” that includes numerous items. Among them are a trophy, telephone, turntable and beer bottle.

A package of “Zig-Zag” rolling papers and a matchbook are prominently displayed in front, and in a brief caption he thanked the “Choom Gang” and others “for all the good times.”

The “Choom Gang” is a reference to “chooming,” the Hawaiian slang for smoking marijuana.

Accuracy in Media has an in-depth profile of a leftist who influenced Obama during his high school years. In an article entitled, “Obama’s Communist Mentor,” Cliff Kincaid identifies a member of the Communist Party USA, who has been influential in Obama’s life and education, Frank Marshall Davis, a communist.

Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his “poetry” and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, “Dreams From My Father,” refers to him repeatedly as just “Frank.” Frank is the black communist writer now considered by some to be in the same category of prominence as Maya Angelou and Alice Walker

In his book, Obama writes about “a poet named Frank,” who visited his family in Hawaii, read poetry, and was full of “hard-earned knowledge” and advice. Who was Frank? Obama only says that he had “some modest notoriety once,” was “a contemporary of Richard Wright and Langston Hughes during his years in Chicago…” but was now “pushing eighty.” He writes about “Frank and his old Black Power dashiki self” giving him advice before he left for Occidental College in 1979 at the age of 18.

Is it possible that Obama did not know who Davis was when he wrote his book? That’s not plausible, since Obama refers to him as a contemporary of Richard Wright and Langston Hughes and says he saw a book of his black poetry.

Unlikely, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What’s more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations.

Professor Gerald Horne, a history professor at the University of Houston, noted that Davis, who moved to Honolulu from Kansas in 1948 “at the suggestion of his good friend Paul Robeson,” came into contact with Barack Obama and his family and became the young man’s mentor, influencing Obama’s sense of identity and career moves. Robeson, of course, was the well-known black actor and singer who served as a member of the CPUSA and apologist for the old Soviet Union. Davis had known Robeson from his time in Chicago.

As Horne describes it, Davis “befriended” a “Euro-American family” that had “migrated to Honolulu from Kansas and a young woman from this family eventually had a child with a young student from Kenya East Africa who goes by the name of Barack Obama, who retracing the steps of Davis eventually decamped to Chicago.”

Read more here and here.

1979

Obama enters Occidental College in California.

1980

In his first memoir, “Dreams,” Obama included a description of black student life at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

“There were enough of us on campus to constitute a tribe, and when it came to hanging out many of us chose to function like a tribe, staying close together, traveling in packs,” he wrote. “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.”

He added: “To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.”

Obama said he and other blacks were careful not to second-guess their own racial identity in front of whites.

“To admit our doubt and confusion to whites, to open up our psyches to general examination by those who had caused so much of the damage in the first place, seemed ludicrous, itself an expression of self-hatred,” he wrote.

You are know by your friends and associates — and Obama’s are the hard-core leftists.

1981

Occidental College in Los Angeles, which then had a black mayor, Tom Bradley, wasn’t black enough, so in search of a community to belong to, he transfers to Harlem … well, to be precise, to that prestigious university on the edge of Harlem, Columbia. (A recurrent theme in Obama’s career is Power to the People gestures and Ivy League results). He majors in political science with a specialization in international relations.
1982 Obama swaps drugs for Marxism.“I stopped getting high. I ran 3 miles a day and fasted on Sundays. For the first time in years I applied myself to my studies and started keeping a journal of daily reflections and very bad poetry,” he wrote in “Dreams.”He went to the Marxist-Socialist conferences at Cooper Union and African cultural fairs in Brooklyn and started lecturing his relatives until they worried he’d become “one of those freaks you see on the streets around here.”

1983

Obama graduates from Columbia College and moves to Chicago where he finally finding a home where at least some whites reciprocated his antagonism.

Many of his classmates don’t remember Obama. He’s not in the yearbook. Columbia couldn’t find a picture of him at school.

1983

During college, Obama disapproved of what he called other “half-breeds” who gravitated toward whites instead of blacks. And yet after college, he once fell in love with a white woman, only to push her away when he concluded he would have to assimilate into her world, not the other way around. He later married a black woman.

1988

Obama goes to Harvard Law School.

1989

Friends say he did not want anyone to assume they knew his mind and because of that, even those close to him did not always know exactly where he stood.

“He then and now is very hard to pin down,” said Kenneth Mack, a classmate and now a professor at the law school, referring to the senator’s on-the-one-hand, on-the-other-hand style.

Mack added, “Obama stood out from the beginning. He seemed more mature. Everyone understood he was a liberal. He didn’t hide that.”

1989 In a page-one footnote of what may be the zaniest-titled article ever published by the Harvard Law Review: “The Curvature of Constitutional Space: What Lawyers Can Learn From Modern Physics,” authored by noted legal scholar Laurence Tribe. The 39-page densely argued treatise argues that constitutional jurisprudence should be updated in a similar way that Einstein’s theory of relativity replaced Newtonian mechanics, a view that would release judges from the original intent of the Founders of America.Published in 1989, with help of the much younger and politically greener Mr. Obama, the long-ago article could indicate his views on the Constitution, which, if he is elected, could come into play in such matters as his choice of nominees to the Supreme Court.

If Mr. Obama captures the White House, he might not curve space but may settle for setting aside a high-altitude seat on the Supreme Court for his former teacher, Mr. Tribe, who is the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard.

1990

Obama becomes the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review — First Muslim-American too!

He manages to serve as president of the Harvard Law Review without ever publishing a SINGLE piece of written work.

1991

Abner Mikva, a five-term congressman from Illinois who was at that time Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. circuit, tried to recruit Obama as a clerk, a position considered a stepping stone to clerking on the Supreme Court, but Obama turned him down.

“He could have gone to the most opulent of law firms,” David Axelrod, a longtime friend who is now Obama’s media adviser, said. “After Harvard, Obama could have done anything he wanted.”

The Carl M. Loeb Professor at Harvard University, Laurence H. Tribe, taught Obama and employed him as a research assistant. He remembers him as a “brilliant, personable, and obviously unique” person. Tribe said that Obama’s theoretical perspective on applying modern physics to law was “very impressive.”

“He is obviously a serious intellectual as well as a fantastic campaigner who can reach across boundaries,” Tribe said. “He will make an extraordinarily fine president.”

David B. Wilkins , the Kirkland and Ellis professor of law, said he advised Obama to become a Supreme Court Clerk. “Obama recognized the honor in pursuing that post,” Wilkins said, but quickly added that he wasn’t interested.

“He said that he wanted to write a book about his life and his father, go back to Chicago, get back into the community, and run for office there. He knew exactly what he wanted and went about getting it done,” Wilkins said.

Obama works hard to dispel the image of having sought his superstar status. “It’s not about me, it’s about you,” he likes to tell his crowds. But according to those who know him, he has been talking about the presidency for more than a decade. “It was clear to me from the day I met him that he was thinking about politics,” says Harvard Law School classmate Christine Spurell.

The one thread, that remains consistent, throughout Obama’s life, is his teacher’s, mentor’s and friend’s recollection of Obama’s single-minded pursuit of high political office.

1991

Obama graduates from Harvard Law School and receive his Juris Doctor law degree.

Barack Obama and Israel

By Ed Lasky

[editor’s note: a substantially new and more complete article on the subject by Ed Lasky can be found here.]

Senator Barack Obama has become the rarest of politicians: a man who has seemingly come out of nowhere to ascend to the top rank of Democratic Presidential candidates. He has parlayed a unique life story, capitalizing on personal
scandals that have destroyed his opponents, with an inspiring speaking style and heartwarming platitudes, to generate a great deal of support among Democratic partisans and independents.

His success is even more impressive when one considers that he has very little record to run on. He has been a United States Senator for only two years and much of that time has been spent promoting his books and his candidacy. However minimal, the fact is that he does have a record; not an easy one to uncover, yet a record nevertheless and one that should give pause to those who support the American-Israel alliance.

Obama’s spiritual mentor

Obama has given a great deal of credit to the influence his church and his minister have had upon him. While his campaign has called his church the United Church of Christ and thus characterized it as just one of many mainstream churches within that denomination, it is in fact the Trinity United Church of Christ and follows a particularly Afro-centric view of Christianity, emphasizing a Black Work Ethic, commitment to a Black Value System, and an allegiance to all Black Leadership that follows the Black Value System. A brief review of its philosophy shows that this is not your everyday Christian parish and perhaps accounts for his campaign’s dropping of the name “Trinity” when discussing his church membership.

This racialist belief system stands in stark contrast to Obama’s rhetoric regarding the need and desirability of racial and religious inclusiveness. The church’s principles seem to belie Obama’s platitudes about the need for all people – of whatever race or religion – to come together as one. Recall this excerpt from his now legendary
2004 Democratic National Convention speech:

“There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America”

Obama had greater role on liberal survey

During his first run for elected office, Barack Obama played a greater role than his aides now acknowledge in crafting liberal stands on gun control, the death penalty and abortion — positions that appear at odds with the more moderate image he has projected during his presidential campaign.

The evidence comes from an amended version of an Illinois voter group’s detailed questionnaire, filed under his name during his 1996 bid for a state Senate seat.

Late last year, in response to a Politico story about Obama’s answers to the original questionnaire, his aides said he “never saw or approved” the questionnaire.

They asserted the responses were filled out by a campaign aide who “unintentionally mischaracterize[d] his position.”

But a Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago nonprofit group that issued it. And it found that Obama — the day after sitting for the interview — filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer.

The two questionnaires, provided to Politico with assistance from political sources opposed to Obama’s presidential campaign, were later supplied directly by the group, Independent Voters of Illinois — Independent Precinct Organization.

Obama and his then-campaign manager, who Obama’s campaign asserts filled out the questionnaires, were familiar with the group, its members and its positions, since both were active in it before Obama’s 1996 state Senate run.

Through an aide, Obama, who won the group’s endorsement as well as the statehouse seat, did not dispute that the handwriting was his. But he contended it doesn’t prove he completed, approved — or even read — the latter questionnaire.

“Sen. Obama didn’t fill out these state Senate questionnaires — a staffer did — and there are several answers that didn’t reflect his views then or now,” Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for Obama’s campaign, said in an e-mailed statement. “He may have jotted some notes on the front page of the questionnaire at the meeting, but that doesn’t change the fact that some answers didn’t reflect his views. His 11 years in public office do.”

But the questionnaires provide fodder to question Obama’s ideological consistency and electability. Those questions are central to efforts by Obama’s presidential rival Hillary Clinton to woo the superdelegates whose votes represent her best chance to wrest the Democratic nomination from Obama.

Taken together — and combined with later policy pronouncements — the two 1996 questionnaires paint a picture of an inexperienced Obama still trying to feel his way around major political issues and less constrained by the nuance that now frames his positions on sensitive issues.

Consider the question of whether minors should be required to get parental consent — or at least notify their parents — before having abortion.

The first version of Obama’s questionnaire responds with a simple “No.”

The amended version, though, answers less stridently: “Depends on how young — possibly for extremely young teens, i.e., 12- or 13-year-olds.”

By 2004, when his campaign filled out a similar questionnaire for the IVI-IPO during his campaign for U.S. Senate, the answer to a similar question contained still more nuance, but also more precision. “I would oppose any legislation that does not include a bypass provision for minors who have been victims of, or have reason to fear, physical or sexual abuse,” he wrote.

The evolution continued at least through late last year, when his campaign filled out a questionnaire for a nonpartisan reproductive health group that answered a similar question with even more nuance.

“As a parent, Obama believes that young women, if they become pregnant, should talk to their parents before considering an abortion. But he realizes not all girls can turn to their mother or father in times of trouble, and in those instances, we should want these girls to seek the advice of trusted adults — an aunt, a grandmother, a pastor,” his campaign wrote to RH Reality Check.

“Unfortunately, instead of encouraging pregnant teens to seek the advice of adults, most parental consent bills that come before Congress or state legislatures criminalize adults who attempt to help a young woman in need and lack judicial bypass and other provisions that would permit exceptions in compelling cases.”

Both versions of the 1996 questionnaires provide answers his presidential campaign disavows to questions about whether Obama supports capital punishment and state legislation to “ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.”

He responded simply “No” and “Yes,” respectively, to those questions on both questionnaires.

But a fact sheet provided by his campaign flatly denies Obama ever held those views, asserting he “consistently supported the death penalty for certain crimes but backed a moratorium until problems were fixed.” And it points out that as a state senator, he led an effort to reform Illinois’ death penalty laws.

On guns, the fact sheet says he “has consistently supported common-sense gun control, as well as the rights of law-abiding gun owners.”

After Politico’s story on the first questionnaire, Clinton aides seized on the handgun-ban answer in particular, which a campaign press release asserted called into question Obama’s electability.

That was a curious argument to make in a Democratic primary. But Republicans will certainly seek to make it in the general election if Obama is the Democratic standard-bearer against the presumptive GOP nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

It could also provide ammunition for a line of attack quietly peddled for some time by Republicans. They allege Obama has a penchant for blaming his staff for gaffes ranging from missing a union event in New Hampshire to circulating opposition research highlighting the Clintons’ ties to India and Indian-Americans to underestimating the amount of cash bundled for his campaigns by his former fundraiser, indicted businessman Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

And the questionnaires play into storylines pushed by both Republicans and Clinton suggesting Obama has altered his views to appeal to differing audiences.

That suggestion is galling to many members of IVI-IPO, some of whom have relationships with Obama that date back nearly 15 years. The group had endorsed Obama in every race he’d run — including his failed long-shot 2000 primary challenge to U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) — until now.

The group’s 37-member board of directors, meeting last year soon after Obama distanced himself from the first questionnaire, stalemated in its vote over an endorsement in the Democratic presidential primary. Forty percent supported Obama, 40 percent sided with Clinton and 20 percent voted for other candidates or not to endorse.

“One big issue was: Does he or does he not believe the stuff he told us in 1996?” said Aviva Patt, who has been involved with the IVI-IPO since 1990 and is now the group’s treasurer. She volunteered for Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign, but voted to endorse the since-aborted presidential campaign of Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio) and professed disappointment over Obama’s retreat from ownership of the questionnaire.

“I always believed those to be his views,” she said, adding some members of the board argued that Obama’s 1996 answers were “what he really believes in, and he’s tailoring it now to make himself more palatable as a nationwide candidate.”

But the questionnaires provide fodder to question BarackObama’s ideological consistency and electability.

It’s more benign than that, contended fellow board member Lois Dobry, who voted to endorse Obama last year and hosted the 1996 interview session at her home.

That “was a long time ago,” she said. “And anybody who hasn’t refined their ideas over that period of time … is not anybody I’m interested in,” she said. Dobry asserted Obama’s views have evolved mostly at the margins and that he’s still the same person she met in the 1990s.

“He always was right from the start very, very clear on where he was coming from on most issues,” she said, “and he certainly wasn’t letting anybody else decide that for him.”

Dobry, Patt and current IVI-IPO state chairman David K. Igasaki, a Clinton supporter, agreed Obama likely didn’t write every word of his campaign’s 1996 answers. But they all dismissed as unbelievable his presidential campaign’s assertion that Obama never saw or signed off on the state Senate questionnaires.

Campaigns are routinely bombarded with all manner of questionnaires from advocacy groups of every stripe, so it’s not uncommon to have staffers fill them out in candidates’ names. But usually there’s some process by which the answers are vetted to insure consistency with the candidates’ views.

And there were plenty of reasons to believe that occurred in the case of Obama’s 1996 IVI-IPO questionnaire.

The group was very influential in Obama’s South Side district. It also was a leader on government reform issues, which Obama has made a centerpiece of his political persona.

He and his campaign manager, Carol Harwell, were both active with the IVI-IPO prior to his candidacy, and they had once helped interview candidates seeking the group’s endorsement, according to Igasaki.

Dobry called Harwell “an extremely experienced person, also someone highly familiar with IVI. And she would know perfectly well that the candidate would have to answer questions based on these answers and to suddenly have the candidate discover that somebody else had written answers that they were in no way in agreement with would be pretty embarrassing, right?”

Harwell, a veteran Democratic operative who got her start working for the late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington in the 1980s and who now works for Cook County Clerk David Orr, last year told Politico she filled out the first questionnaire.

But she did not return several telephone messages asking about the second questionnaire and the handwritten notes on it.

They appear under a question asking candidates to “list all endorsements you have received so far.” In typed text that matches that of the rest of the answers, both of Obama’s questionnaires list four local Democratic organizations and two aldermen. But the latter questionnaire adds to that with handwritten notes listing another 10 endorsements, including an Illinois seniors group, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Sierra Club, IBEW and unions representing nurses and firefighters.

Igasaki said Obama was shoo-in for the IVI-IPO endorsement, but that it was important to have a strong showing because “our chapter basically was his field operation. … Those people were already working for him, and it was important for him to identify with us.”

Patt, though, conceded the inevitability of the group’s endorsement could have led Harwell to be “less than 100 percent careful” in filling out the questionnaire, “because it probably didn’t matter that much at the time. It’s only in the context that it’s now found that has much greater importance than anyone could have imagined it would back in 1996.”

An anti-white and virulently anti-Semitic black supremacist party has once again endorsed Sen. Barack Obama on the presidential candidate’s own website, WND has learned.

Following criticism earlier this month of an online endorsement from the New Black Panther Party, or NBPP, Obama’s campaign removed the controversial organization from the presidential candidate’s official website. The NBPP had been a registered team member and blogger on Obama’s “MyObama” campaign site.

But the NBPP endorsement was reposted on Obama’s official website today.

“Obama is capable of stirring the ‘melting pot’ into a better ‘molten America,'” states the NBPP endorsement posted on Obama’s site.

The NBPP is a controversial black extremist party whose leaders are notorious for their racist statements and for leading anti-white activism.

Malik Zulu Shabazz, NBPP national chairman, who has given scores of speeches condemning “white men” and Jews, confirmed his organization’s endorsement of Obama in a recent interview with WND.

“I think the way Obama responded to the attack on him and the attempt to sabotage his campaign shows true leadership and character. He had a chance to denounce his pastor and he didn’t fall for the bait. He stood up and addressed real issues of racial discord,” stated Shabazz.

Is Barack Obama a Muslim wolf in Christian wool?

Is Barack Obama a Muslim wolf in Christian wool?
By Reuven Koret March 27, 2008

The glib handling of criticism of his relationship with the anti-American (“God Damn America!”) and anti-Israel (“a dirty word for Negroes”) Reverend James Wright may have bought him a little time. But the legacy of dissimulation about his long-concealed identity is about to come crashing down around the ears of Barack Hussein Obama, courtesy of the assembled testimony of his family, friends, classmates and teachers.

The accumulated research indicates that Obama was in his childhood a devout Muslim, the son of a devout Muslim, the step-son of a devout Muslim and the grandson and namesake (“Hussein”) of a devout Muslim. He was registered in school as a Muslim and demonstrated his ability to chant praise to Allah in impressive Arab-accented tones even as an adult. Just as he has not disavowed his “uncle” Jeremiah, neither has he disavowed his Muslim faith that he was born into, raised with, celebrated and never abandoned. He just covered it over with a thin veneer of his own self-styled “Christianity.”

Although as an adult he would register as a Christian, and occasionally attend a Christian Church (but apparently not often enough to listen to the preaching of his pastor, or so he would claim) this was a necessary step for a man who from earliest boyhood has nurtured the precocious ambition to be President of the United States.

He was entered into the Roman Catholic, Franciscus Assisi Primary School, in Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 1, 1968, registered under the name Barry Soetoro, an Indonesian citizen whose religion was listed as Islam. Catholic schools accept non-Catholics worldwide. Non-Catholic students are typically excused from religious instruction and ceremony.

In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President.'”Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.” [AP, 1/25/07]

Three years later, in 1971, Obama enrolled in the Besuki Primary School, a government school, as Barry Soetoro, Muslim. In third grade, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want To Be a President.’ His third grade teacher: Fermina Katarina Sinaga “asked her class to write an essay titled ‘My dream: What I want to be in the future.’ Senator Obama wrote ‘I want to be a President,’ she said.” [The Los Angeles Times, 3/15/07]

All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school and a young Barry Soetoro, being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in school.

He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam.

In his autobiography, “Dreams From My Father,” Obama mentions studying the Koran and describes the public school as “a Muslim school.”

“In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Koranic studies.”

TALK SHOW HOST REVEALS OBAMA CONNECTION TO TERRORISTS

There is a far-reaching scandal brewing for presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama, thanks to a radio talk show host based in Oregon. Syndicated talk show host Laurie Roth’s revelations make the news story about Obama’s relationship with a racist, anti-American pastor look like child’s play.

A top official at the Pentagon during former-President George H. W. Bush’s Administration and a former CIA intelligence officer maintain that Barack Obama and former Weather Underground honcho William Ayers funneled money to Professor Rashid Khalidi, a known terrorist sympathizer.

Khalidi serves on the faculty of Columbia University in New York and is best known as the professor who invited Iranian President Ahmedinejad to visit Columbia University after he finished his speech at the United Nations. According to confidential sources, Khalidi has direct ties to the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), a group on the US State Department’s list of known terrorist groups.

“One source for this information was once a top military figure in the 1990s. He doesn’t take making allegations lightly. If he says something happened, believe me, it happened,” said syndicated radio talk show host Laurie Roth.

“Another source is a former agent for the Central Intelligence Agency, who is an expert in counterterrorism,” said Roth, who broke the story on her show Friday night.

“I certainly don’t want to demonize someone because they are a woman, black or liberal running for President. I love the idea that in our culture, a black and woman can now run. However, it does matter to me with any candidate, their consistency with good judgment, their voting record, their association with people with questionable backgrounds and commitment to our country,” she said during her show. Here are the connections as described by very reliable sources, who possess impressive military, national security and intelligence backgrounds:

Allison Davis, who hired the young Obama into his small, Chicago law firm Davis, Miner, and Barnhill in 1993, left the firm in late 1999-2000 and became a housing developer. Davis went into business with Tony Rezko, the indicted businessman who’s scheduled to go on trial for corruption in Illinois, and who was a major fundraiser for Obama.
