Senator Obama Admits He’s Heard Pastor’s Controversial Statements!
March 20, 2008 – Presidential candidate Barack Obama gave a speech on March 18th that was designed to clarify his association with his former Pastor Jeremiah Wright and to discuss the theme of race in America.

Sen. Obama declared his “unyielding faith in the decency and generosity of the American people.”

He also said of his pastor’s anti-white, anti-American remarks: “They expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam.”

However, later in his speech, he says of Wright: “I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother…. These people are a part of me. And they are part of America, this country that I love.”

Sen. Obama also noted: “Did I know [Wright] to be a fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I am sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.”

Yet, until last week, Sen. Obama was denying he was in the pew when Wright made controversial statements against whites, America or Israel. A NewsMax report, however, revealed that last July, he was, in deed, in the pew when Wright blasted white America for the woes of the world and referred to the United States as the United States of White America.

“If Senator Obama could sit in the pew and listen to these diatribes against America, why didn’t he confront his pastor over these statements last year – or any time during the 20 years that he attended this radical church?” asks TVC Chairman Rev. Lou Sheldon.

African-American Scholars Speak Out About Barack Obama

Hoover Institution scholar and author Thomas Sowell analyzed Obama’s speech from March 18. He writes: “There was no way that he didn’t know about Jeremiah Wright’s anti-American and racist diatribes from the pulpit. Someone once said that a con man’s job is not to convince skeptics but enable people to continue to believe what they already want to believe.”

He continues: “Shelby Steele depicts Barack Obama as a man without real convictions, ‘an iconic figure who neglected to become himself.’ Senator Obama has been at his best as an icon, able with his command of words to meet other people’s psychic needs, including a need to dispel white guilt by supporting his candidacy. But President of the United States, in a time of national danger, under a looming threat of nuclear terrorism? No.”

Shelby Steele, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, has also critiqued Senator Obama. He notes of Obama: “His actual policy positions are little more than Democratic Party boilerplate and hardly a tick different than Hillary’s positions. He espouses no galvanizing political idea. He is unable to say what he means by ‘change’ or ‘hope’ or ‘the future.’ And he has failed to say how he would actually be a ‘unifier.’ … Barack Obama stacks up as something of a mediocrity.”

Steele expressed concern over how Obama could stay in a church for 20 years that his own white mother and grandmother would feel uncomfortable attending. And, he wonders how Obama could possibly have exposed his own two daughters to Pastor Wright’s hateful rants for their entire lives.

Steele continues: “Mr. Obama has said of himself, ‘I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views…’ And so, human visibility is Mr. Obama’s Achilles heel. If we see the real man, his contradictions and bents of character, he will be ruined as an icon, as a ‘blank screen.’”

Steele is author of A Bound Man: Why We Are Excited About Obama And Why He Can’t Win.

African-American, liberal Pastor Eugene Rivers of Azusa Christian Community Church was on Chris Matthews “Hardball” on MSNBC on March 14 to discuss Barack Obama’s pastor.

Pastor Rivers said, in part: “Jeremiah Wright is a good man who means well, who has made a series of politically irresponsible, over-the-top statements that have to be simply on its face rejected. … If Senator Obama is as smart as he thinks he is, he’s going to do everything he can to put a distance – reject the statements and distance himself from the sorts of statements if he plans to be president of the United States.”

Rivers also observed of Wright: “… the statements that were made on the heels of 9/11 were simply irresponsible, indefensible statements that were just inappropriate in every conceivable context.”

Rev. Rivers was also on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC on March 19. During the interview, Rev. Rivers stated: “There are 65,000 black churches that serve roughly 23 million black people. I challenge anyone if you go to the overwhelming majority of black churches in the United States, you will not hear that kind of rhetoric.”

African-American leader Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, said: “Barack Obama has received a lot of support from the white community because many white Americans want to put racism behind them …. But after his refusal to denounce and walk away from the racist Jeremiah Wright, I believe this is definitely going to impact his chances of being nominated within the Democratic Party.”

Who Are Barack And Michelle Obama?

It’s funny how we don’t hear about any of this on national news!

Source: Traditional Values

Who Are Barack And Michelle Obama?
February 21, 2008 – Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) is expected to become the Democrat candidate for President of the United States. After an unbroken string of wins in primary battle against Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Obama appears to be unbeatable among Democrats. As the race between Obama and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) becomes more certain, it is essential that voters understand exactly what Barack and his wife Michelle believe in – and what they plan for America if elected as President and First Lady.

As more information becomes available about this first-term Senator with no discernible accomplishments in the Senate, the more concerned voters are becoming.

A Communist Mentor?
One of the latest revelations about Senator Obama was published this week by Cliff Kincaid, an investigative journalist with Accuracy in Media, a conservative media watchdog group.

Kincaid’s article, “Obama’s Communist Mentor” describes the close relationship that Barack Obama developed with Frank Marshall Davis while Obama lived in Hawaii from 1971-1979.

Davis was a member of the Communist Party, USA and gave Obama advice on career choices. He was a contemporary of Richard Wright and Langston Hughes when he lived in Chicago. In Obama’s book, Dreams From My Father, he writes about “Frank and his old Black Power dashiki self.”

Professor Gerald Horne, a contributing editor to the Communist Party journal Political Affairs, described Davis as having influenced Obama’s sense of identity and career moves. According to Horne, Obama retraced the steps of Davis by eventually moving to Chicago.

A Black Power Mentor?
In Chicago, Obama became a community organizer and began attending Trinity Church of Christ, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr.

Rev. Wright operates what the church web site describes as an Afro-centric church. Wright is a Black Power advocate who received inspiration from Dr. James Cone, who pioneered the concept of Black Power when he published Black Power and Black Theology in 1969. Cone is a contributing editor to Sojourners Journal, a far-left publication run by Rev. Jim Wallis.

Rev. Wright has a record of making anti-Israel comments in his sermons and in December 2007, he awarded his friend, Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam, his lifetime achievement award.

Wright and Farrakhan traveled to Libya in 1984 to visit with terrorist dictator Muammar el-Qaddafi.

Senator Obama admits having been mentored by Dr. Wright, but has recently distanced himself from Wright when the pastor’s connections to the Nation of Islam were revealed in the conservative press.

Sen. Obama has rejected Wright’s anti-Jewish statements, but he employs members of the Nation of Islam (NOI) on his staff. According to columnist Debbie Schlussel, Obama employed NOI member Cynthia Miller, who served as treasurer of his Senate campaign; he also employs NOI member Jennifer Mason who serves as Obama’s Director of Constituent Services in the U.S. Senate. Mason oversees his internship program.

Nation of Islam leader Farrakhan is rabidly anti-Jewish and anti-White. He has referred to Judaism as a “gutter religion” and said that Whites are only “potential” humans.

One can only wonder why Obama would have followers of Farrakhan on his staff.

A Socialist Mentor?
The Washington Post has reported that both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were heavily influenced in their political thinking and organizing by radical activist Saul Alinsky.

Alinsky was a Chicago political organizer who developed leftist strategies for bringing about social change through protests, and the seizing of political power. According to Alinsky, an organizer must “fan the latent hostilities” in people and “he must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them.”

In his 1971 book, Rules for Radicals, Alinsky taught his 1960s leftist followers to avoid scaring the Middle Class by cutting their hair, putting on suits and infiltrating the system from within!

Alinsky once boasted: “I feel confident that I could persuade a millionaire on Friday to subsidize a revolution for Saturday out of which he would make a huge profit on Sunday even though he was certain to be executed on Monday.”

At 21, Obama was hired by Alinsky devotees to do political organizing in Chicago.
After spending three years at Harvard Law School, Obama returned to Chicago and taught constitutional law, handled civil rights cases and did community organizing – based on Alinsky’s philosophy.

Michelle Obama
Sen. Obama’s wife, Michelle, attended Princeton University and apparently developed a sense of racial resentment that continues to this day. Her senior thesis at Princeton was titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community.” Access to her thesis is being blocked by Princeton until after the election.

One portion of her thesis, however, has been revealed by journalist Jacob Laksin. She warned against “further integration and/or assimilation into a White cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.”

Her recent statements indicate that this feeling may not have subsided yet. On February 18, she stated at a political rally: “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change.”

Her statement resulted in a firestorm of controversy, which was largely ignored by the mainstream liberal press. Days later, she clarified her statement to say that she was proud of how Americans are engaging in the political process.

However, her more recent statements are frightening in their implications for America’s future. In a Hitler-like speech given at UCLA on February 19, Michelle Obama made these statements:

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

You have to stay at the seat at the table of democracy with a man like Barack Obama not just on Tuesday but in a year from now, in four years from now, in eights years from now, you will have to be engaged.

We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another — that we cannot measure the greatness of our society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.”

Did Michelle Obama misspeak at UCLA or do these comments reveal her true feelings and beliefs about how her husband will rule our nation?

Will a President Obama force Americans to “work” – for what purpose? How will he demand that we reject cynicism? How will he force us to be involved and informed? What will he do to require Americans to “stay at the seat at the table of democracy”?

And, how will Barack Obama fix our souls? Is that the role of the President of the United States?

These are frightening authoritarian statements from the wife of a man who wants to become President of the United States and the Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces.

The Voting Record
Senator Barack Obama is the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate. His voting record and his ratings from conservative and liberal groups show conclusively that the “change” he is advocating for America is hard leftist socialism.

Both OnTheIssues and Project Vote Smart have detailed voting records of Sen. Obama.

In addition to his consistent far left voting record in the Senate since 2004, Obama has been rated by numerous conservative and liberal groups.

Ratings from liberal groups show: NARAL Pro-Choice America: 100% in 2006; Planned Parenthood: 100% in 2006; Americans United for Separation of Church and State: 100% in 2006; Iranian American Political Action Committee, 100% in 2006; Human Rights Campaign, 89% in 2005-2006.

Ratings from conservative groups: Traditional Values Coalition, 0% in 2008; National Right To Life Committee, 0% in 2005-2006; American Conservative Union, 8% in 2006; Eagle Forum, 0% in 2006; Family Research Council, 0% in 2006.

High Stakes In November
Clearly, the stakes are high in November. The person elected to become our next President of the United States will wield immense power either for good or for evil. The President also serves as Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces during a time of war against Islamic fascism. The President also appoints federal judges, including members of the Supreme Court.

The question American voters must answer is who will best serve in this post for the next four years? Who will best serve our military and who will best pick federal judges?

Who will determine the future course of our nation – potentially for decades to come?

Obama: Sermon on Mount Justifies Same-Sex Unions

Obama: Sermon on Mount Justifies Same-Sex Unions
By Terence P. Jeffrey
CNSNews.com Editor in Chief
March 03, 2008

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told a crowd at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, Sunday that he believes the Sermon on the Mount justifies his support for legal recognition of same-sex unions. He also told the crowd that his position in favor of legalized abortion does not make him “less Christian.”

“I don’t think it [a same-sex union] should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state,” said Obama. “If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans.” ((Hear audio from WTAP-TV)) St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans condemns homosexual acts as unnatural and sinful.

Obama’s mention of the Sermon on the Mount in justifying legal recognition of same-sex unions may have been a reference to the Golden Rule: “Do to others what you would have them do to you.” Or it may have been a reference to another famous line: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”

The Sermon, recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, includes the Lord’s Prayer, the Beatitudes, an endorsement of scriptural moral commandments (“anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven”), and condemnations of murder, divorce and adultery. It also includes a warning: “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

The passage from St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, which Obama dismissed as “obscure,” discusses people who knew God but turned against him.

“They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised,” wrote St. Paul. “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”

On the topic of abortion, Obama said his support for keeping it legal does not trespass on his Christian faith.

“I think that the bottom line is that in the end, I think women, in consultation with their pastors, and their doctors, and their family, are in a better position to make these decisions than some bureaucrat in Washington. That’s my view,” Obama said about abortion. “Again, I respect people who may disagree, but I certainly don’t think it makes me less Christian. Okay.” (Hear audio from WTAP-TV)

Obama opened his town-hall-type meeting at the college with a short speech and then provided lengthy answers to a handful of questions. One questioner, Leon Forte, a Protestant clergyman, asked Obama about evangelical Christians who were concerned about his position on issues that conservatives consider “litmus tests.”

“Your campaign sets a quandary for most evangelical Christians because I believe that they believe in the social agenda that you have, but they have a problem in what the conservatives have laid out as the moral litmus tests as to who is worthy and who is not,” said Forte. “So, I will ask you to speak to those two questions.”(See transcript)

Obama volunteered that he believed Forte was talking about abortion and homosexual marriage, and then he gave answers on both issues that were not as explicit as positions he has staked out on these issues in other venues. Last Thursday, for example, as reported by Cybercast News Service, Obama published on his Web site an “open letter concerning LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) equality in America.”

In that letter, Obama said he favored same-sex unions that were equal to marriage–including adoption rights–and that he was open to states codifying same-sex marriages.

“As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws,” Obama said in the letter. “I personally believe that civil unions represent the best way to secure that equal treatment. But I also believe that the federal government should not stand in the way of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality for gay and lesbian couples–whether that means a domestic partnership, a civil union, or a civil marriage.”

In Ohio on Sunday, before mentioning the Sermon on the Mount, Obama insisted he was against “gay marriage” and did not mention his support for allowing same-sex couples to adopt children and have the same “family” status as heterosexual couples.

“I will tell you that I don’t believe in gay marriage, but I do think that people who are gay and lesbian should be treated with dignity and respect and that the state should not discriminate against them,” said Obama on Sunday. “So, I believe in civil unions that allow a same-sex couple to visit each other in a hospital or transfer property to each other. I don’t think it should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state. If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans. That’s my view.”

Obama also has been more aggressive in framing his pro-abortion position previously than he was on Sunday. When he was in the Illinois Senate, for example, he repeatedly opposed a bill that would have defined as a “person” a baby who had survived an induced-labor abortion and was born alive.

In a 2001 Illinois Senate floor speech about that bill, he argued that to call a baby who survived an abortion a “person” would give it equal protection rights under the 14th Amendment and would give credibility to the argument that the same child inside its mother’s womb was also a “person” and thus could not be aborted.

When the Illinois Senate bill was amended to make it identical to a federal law that included language to protect Roe v. Wade–and that the U.S. Senate voted unanimously to pass–Obama still opposed the bill, voting it down in the Illinois Senate committee he chaired.

Yet, in Ohio on Sunday, Obama depicted abortion as a tragedy to be avoided, while being kept legal.

“On the issue of abortion, that is always a tragic and painful issue,” he said. “I think it is always tragic, and we should prevent it as much as possible …. But I think that the bottom line is that in the end, I think women, in consultation with their pastors, and their doctors, and their family, are in a better position to make these decisions than some bureaucrat in Washington. That’s my view. Again, I respect people who may disagree, but I certainly don’t think it makes me less Christian. Okay.”

Before discussing his views on same-sex unions and abortion, Obama told the crowd he was a “devout Christian.”

“In terms of my faith, there has been so much confusion that has been deliberately perpetrated through emails and so forth, so here are the simple facts,” he said. “I am a Christian. I am a devout Christian. I have been a member of the same church for 20 years, pray to Jesus every night, and try to go to church as much as I can when they are not working me. Used to go quite often.

“These days, we haven’t been at the home church–I haven’t been home on Sunday–for several months now. So, my faith is important to me. It is not something that I try to push on other people. But it is something that helps to guide my life and my values.”
