The Anchored Soul – Day 58 – The Paradox of Power

In a culture that constantly shouts for dominance, self-promotion, and the aggressive pursuit of personal rights, the concept of meekness has been completely distorted. The world equates meekness with weakness, viewing a quiet and gentle spirit as a doormat to be stepped on. Yet, the wisdom of man is foolishness with God. (1 Corinthians 3:19) True biblical meekness is not the absence of strength; it is power under control. It is the humility of a soul completely surrendered to the authority of God, refusing to rely on human pride or fleshly retaliation. Haven’t you been in a situation where your “old” self wanted to just blow up in someone’s face? However, when you walk in the Spirit, He has taught you how to be meek: how to respond without retaliation.

The Lord Jesus Christ explicitly turned the world’s upside-down philosophy during the Sermon on the Mount. In the Gospel of Matthew, He gave us a promise that completely contradicts the aggressive “survival of the fittest” mentality surrounding us: “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5). While the world fights, claws, and steps over others to claim its “temporary kingdoms,” the believer rests in confidence that the entire earth belongs to the Lord, and it is already promised to those who wait upon Him.

This inheritance is not a metaphorical concept; it points directly to a literal, glorious future. The day is coming when the wickedness of this present world will be swept away, and the King of Kings will establish His physical kingdom on this earth. How exciting is that? Born-again Christians—those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb—will not just witness this kingdom; they will actively participate in governing it. The quiet restraint exercised in this life will give way to a position of unmatched divine authority.

The Apostle John was given a breathtaking vision of this specific reality in the Book of Revelation, pulling back the curtain on the upcoming Millennium. He writes, “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:4). Those who refused to bow to the systems of this world are the very ones appointed to rule alongside Christ.

As you walk through a world that demands you to be loud, prideful, and self-assertive, remember your ultimate destiny. Do not let the clamor of society pressure you into adopting its tactics and behaviors. Your meekness today is the preparation for your reign tomorrow. When tempted to take matters into your own hands, fix your eyes on the Millennium, rest in the promises of God, and let His strength perfect your gentle spirit.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, cleanse our hearts of worldly pride and grant us the grace to walk in true biblical meekness, fully surrendered to Your sovereign hand. Keep our eyes firmly fixed on the glorious hope of Your coming Kingdom, knowing that those who endure in humble faith will live and reign with Christ for a thousand years. May our lives reflect His gentle heart to a world that desperately needs Him, and we ask these things in the precious Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
