The Anchored Soul – Day 53 – Trusting God with the Unknown

Psalm 121:1–2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

One of the heaviest burdens a heart can carry in this life is the painful, unanswered silence of a loved one who has walked away. A dear online friend once shared with me the quiet agony of her heart: twelve years ago, her daughter chose to walk away without a word. To this day, she has no idea where her daughter is, nor the reason why she left. Sadly, this is not an isolated story. We are living in a time where a heartbreaking trend has emerged – one where children completely sever ties, walk away, and totally abandon the relationship with their parents. So many precious believers silently walk through this exact valley. They are carrying a deep, lingering ache that time does not erase, wondering what happened, and bearing a grief that few others truly understand. In a world full of fractured relationships and cultural shifts that encourage cutting off family, it can feel so isolating, but God sees every hidden tear and He knows the exact weight of your heart.

When years pass without answers and human efforts yield nothing, our hearts naturally want to cling to worry or search for explanations. But the Lord gently reminds us that when our hands are completely helpless,

God is not bound by modern trends, physical distance, passing decades, or total silence. Long before we loved our children, He loved them first – even more deeply and perfectly than we ever could. No matter where someone wanders, they are never out of the reach or sight of the Almighty.

Proverbs 3:5–6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

When the heartache and mystery feel especially sharp, let it drive you not to despair, but to the quiet sanctuary of prayer. Prayer is where we surrender our deep desire for answers and place our loved ones directly into the hands of our Heavenly Father. You do not have to carry the weight of solving the unknown in your own strength. God knows where they are this very moment, He knows what they are facing, and He is fully able to work behind the scenes in ways we cannot see or comprehend.

Rest today in knowing that your Heavenly Father hears every whisper of your heart. When you feel weary from years of waiting or heavy with unanswered questions, bring that burden to Him and leave it at His feet. Fix your mind on His faithfulness, trust His perfect timing, and let His comforting presence hold you firmly through every season.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come to You today with a heavy heart, placing those who are lost, distant, or silent into Your faithful hands. You see the deep heartache of unanswered questions, and You count every tear shed in secret. Lord, where human understanding and strength fail completely, I ask that Your Holy Spirit would hover over those who have wandered away and abandoned their families. Guard our hearts against bitterness, worry, and despair, and fill us with Your perfect peace as we trust in Your timing. Give us the grace to rest in Your unfailing love, knowing that You care for our loved ones even more than we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
