Psalms 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

There are seasons in life when the weight of our circumstances feels almost too heavy to carry. Troubles come one after another, prayers seem to linger unanswered, and we may find ourselves wondering, “Lord, how much longer?” Yet Psalm 34:19 gives us a precious reminder that affliction is not evidence that God has abandoned us. In fact, right in the middle of this promise, we find the assurance that He is still with us and still working.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”

Notice that Scripture does not say the righteous will have few afflictions. It says many. Being a child of God does not mean we will never experience heartache, disappointment, loss, uncertainty, or difficult seasons. But it does mean that we never face them alone. The Lord knows every burden we carry, every tear we shed, and every battle we fight.

And then comes that beautiful little word: all.

The Lord delivereth him out of them all. Not some of them. Not only the troubles that seem small enough for us to handle. All. His deliverance may not always come in the way or timing we expect, but we can trust His heart even when we cannot understand His plan. Sometimes He changes our circumstances, and sometimes He changes us while we walk through them. Either way, His presence is our assurance that our affliction will never have the final word.

Perhaps today you are sitting in a difficult place, wondering when the answer will come. Maybe you have been praying for something for a long time, and you are weary from waiting. I’ve been waiting for the Lord to answer a prayer about a prodigal son for two and a half years. Take courage. Our God sees us. He cares about what concerns you, and He has not forgotten you. The mountain before you may be great, but your God is greater. (1 John 4:4)

So keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. You may not see the way out yet, but the Lord already does—and He is already at work on your behalf. What feels like an ending to you is often the very place where God is preparing to show His goodness and demonstrate His faithfulness in ways beyond what you imagined. One thing I have learned, God is always on time.

Lord, thank You for reminding us that although many are the afflictions of the righteous, You are our faithful Deliverer. When we are weary, strengthen us. When we are afraid, give us peace. When we cannot see the way forward, help us trust the One who can see the entire path. Remind us that You have not forgotten us and that no trial is greater than Your power. Teach us to wait patiently, pray faithfully, and trust completely. We place every burden, every fear, and every unanswered question into Your hands today.
