The Anchored Soul – Day 6 – The Shifting Tides and the Steady Rock

In a world that constantly demands our attention and fuels our anxiety, Isaiah 26:3-4 offers a steady breath for the soul. The King James Version uses the word “stayed,” which mean to be braced, supported, lean upon or anchored. It suggests that peace isn’t the absence of trouble, but the result of a mind that has found its resting place in the Lord.

Finding Your Anchor

  • The Mind’s Focus: Peace is a byproduct of where we choose to look. When our thoughts are “stayed” on the Lord, we are looking at the One who is larger than our trials.
  • The Heart’s Trust: We trust Him because He is “JEHOVAH,” the self-existent, eternal God. He doesn’t just have strength; He is everlasting strength.
  • The Promise of Permanence: While the world offers temporary relief, God offers “everlasting strength.” He is the “Rock of Ages,” a foundation that cannot be shaken by the shifting tides of life.

Reflection

Take a moment to evaluate your “mental focus.” Is your mind darting between worries, or is it firmly braced against God’s character? Today, when anxiety begins to rise, remind yourself that the Lord is your Rock. You don’t have to manufacture peace; you simply have to stay your mind on the One who is peace.
