Do we truly understand the meaning of majesty / majestic? Strong’s Concordance defines it as:
hôd, hode
From an unused root; grandeur (that is, an imposing form and appearance): – beauty, comeliness, excellency, glorious, glory, goodly, honour, majesty.
We can sing of God’s majesty and power as we read through the Scriptures, reflecting on His wondrous acts and divine nature, but we will never truly “see” God’s majesty in all its brilliance until the Rapture. The disciples who had the privilege to witness Christ after His resurrection, as well as those who stood in awe when they saw Him ascend into Heaven, caught only a glimpse of His glory, seeing in part what awaited them. However, until Christ makes His glorious appearance at the Rapture, the Church will have to wait patiently to witness such majesty in its fullness! This anticipation not only deepens our faith but also unites believers yearning for that magnificent day when every human limitation will be lifted and we will behold our Saviour in all His radiant splendor!!
Psalm 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
1 Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
God’s creation are a beautiful reflection of His majesty. We look at the heavens on a dark star-lit night and witness the byproduct of His majesty. Is it any wonder one is led to praise the Lord God Almighty as a result? This short hymn was written by a Pentecostal preacher who recognized that only God is majestic and is the only One deserving of our honor and praise!
Majesty – by Jack Hayford
Majesty, worship his majesty;
Unto Jesus be all glory, honor, and praise.
Majesty, kingdom authority,
Flow from his throne unto his own, his anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus, the King.
Majesty, worship his majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings. So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus, the King.
Majesty, worship his majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings.
Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings
