Auto Repairs 101

This is a picture of a Toyota Corolla very similar to mine. When we first got our Corolla, it didn’t have a scratch. Oh the smell of a new car! There’s nothing like it! What is it about a new car? I love to look at it – I love to drive it. But one thing is for sure, I do not like the repairs and costs associated with it!

My husband likes to tinker with our vehicles. He always makes sure that he purchases the manual for each of our vehicles so he can work on them. Whenever something goes wrong, out comes the manual and he looks up the “symptoms” and diagnoses the problem. Once he knows what the problem is, he can get to work to fix it. He pulls out his “How To” manual and follows the instructions on how to fix a 2006 Toyota Corolla.

We also own a Nissan Titan and, as you can guess, he owns the manual for that as well :-) However, he would not take the Nissan manual out to fix our Corolla, nor would he take the Corolla manual out to fix the Titan. The Toyota manufacturer has complete guidelines and instructions for their vehicles (as do all other manufacturers) and if anyone knows how to repair our Corolla, they would. They would not relinquish the responsibility of documenting their repair instructions to another manufacturer – that would be absurd! So the car buyer knows that he can trust Toyota’s documentation because it is written by those who manufactured the car. No one else knows a Toyota better than those who build it, right? With that thought in mind, you wouldn’t turn to a Ford manual to work on your Toyota would you? Of course not.

It is the same with “religion.” To those who are searching for God and wanting to know how to get to heaven, they must turn to the only source that has the truth. They may turn to a specific “church” or organization for the answers, but why not go to the Source who documented the truth? If anyone knows about heaven and how to get there, it is God and He recorded the way in the Bible. Some think they know the way because they go to a specific church or they were “christian” all their lives. However, the Bible says,

(Pro 14:12) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Is it possible that the way you think is the right way could be the wrong way? Don’t you want to know?

Do you let people deceive you in your finances? Do you fall for gimmicks on television? Are you a sucker for every good deal that crosses your path? If you’re like me, you like to research and investigate before you spend your hard-earned money. I don’t throw away my money frivolously. I make sure that I am getting my money’s worth. Nothing is too good for my family so I watch out for the best deals and make my dollar stretch. I can’t put a price on their health and well being. But what is the price of their soul? What is the price on where they will spend eternity? That, my friend, is priceless! It is my duty to show my children the way to heaven. God did not leave us without direction. The Bible offers the instructions on how to repair our souls, just as my husband’s Toyota manual offers him the instructions on repairing my car!

(Joh 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Act 4:12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

No matter how many men tell my husband he can put a Dodge part into his Toyota, he knows that it just won’t work. Why? Because he has read the manual and he has learned from the master mechanics at Toyota how to repair his vehicle. He doesn’t travel from manufacturer to manufacturer trying to find another way or a work around solution. He knows that the truth about fixing my car is found in its manual. Salvation is no different! No matter how many muslims, mormons, catholics, hindus, etc. tell us that their way is the only way, we must compare what they say with what God says in His Word. Will you take the words of men or will you take the words of God? Who is the authority on the subject but the author? The Author, God, has penned His instructions – His directions – His map, if you will – and we find those words in our Bible.

(Heb 5:9) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Heb 12:2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus is the Rock and foundation of our faith.

(Deu 32:4) He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. (1 Cor 10:4) And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

When we follow a church’s teachings blindly, we will fall as they fall (Luk 6:39). Don’t be guilty of placing your eternal destination in the hands of another. It is your responsibility to seek out the truth and decide for yourself. God has left you His manual in the Bible!

A Note to Precious Catholics

The purpose of my blog is to bring precious catholics the same blessed peace that I received as a catholic when I was 25 years old.

(Mat 11:28 ) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This is the kind of rest that I wanted! My sin was great and although I had confessed it, its weight – its burden was still weighing heavy on my shoulders. I knew I was not right with God even though I had gone to confession and done my penance.

(Mat 11:29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. No matter how many times I went to church, even daily during Lent, I never found rest. I “felt good” because I had done what other good catholics did. But I never had that rest. I continued sinning, feeling guilty over my sins, and repeating the cycle over and over.

(Mat 11:30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. God tells us that His burden is light. He takes away our burden of sin. He took away mine when I finally understood the plan of salvation and repented. What freedom indeed! What peace I received! The burden of my sin was removed from my shoulders and it was the most wonderful feeling on earth! I was finally free!

It is man’s nature to work at being religious. I really worked hard at being a good catholic. But I never had peace in my heart. I never felt clean from sin. I never felt totally forgiven.

Are you one of those catholics out there that feels this way, too? Won’t you please go visit this page? Accepting Christ as my Saviour literally saved my life. I had planned to commit suicide a few days later. But God had mercy on me and led me to His Precious Son just in time!

The Dillard’s Shopping Bag

(This is just too funny! This could only be true; you simply can’t make this stuff up!)

Clutching their Dillard’s shopping bags, Ellen and Kay woefully gazed down at a dead cat in the mall parking lot. Obviously a recent hit—no flies, no smell. What business could that poor kitty have had here?” murmured Ellen.

“Come on, Ellen, let’s just go…”

But Ellen had already grabbed her shopping bag and was explaining, “I’ll just put my things in your bag, and then I’ll take the tissue.” She dumped her purchases into Kay’s bag and then used the tissue paper to cradle and lower the former feline into her own Dillard’s bag and cover it.

They continued the short trek to the car in silence, stashing their goods in the trunk. But it occurred to both of them that if they left Ellen’s burial bag in the trunk, warmed by the TEXAS sunshine while they ate, Kay’s Lumina would soon lose that new-car smell. They decided to leave the bag on top of the trunk, and they headed over to Luby’s Cafeteria.

After they cleared the serving line and sat down at a window table, they had a view of Kay’s Chevy with the Dillard’s bag still on the trunk. BUT not for long! As they ate, they noticed a black-haired woman in a red gingham shirt stroll by their car, look quickly this way and that, and then hook the Dillard’s bag without breaking stride. She quickly walked out of their line of vision. Kay and Ellen shot each other a wide-eyed look of amazement.

It all happened so fast that neither of them could think how to respond. “Can you imagine?” finally sputtered Ellen. “The nerve of that woman!”

Kay sympathized with Ellen, but inwardly a laugh was building as she thought about the grand surprise awaiting the red-gingham thief. Just when she thought she’d have to giggle into her napkin, she noticed Ellen’s eyes freeze in the direction of the serving line.

Following her gaze, Kay recognized with a shock the black-haired woman with THE Dillard’s bag, hanging from her arm, brazenly pushing her tray toward the cashier.

Helplessly they watched the scene unfold: After clearing the register, the woman settled at a table across from theirs, put the bag on an empty chair and began to eat. After a few bites of baked whitefish and green beans, she casually lifted the bag into her lap to survey her treasure.

Looking from side to side, but not far enough to notice her rapt audience three tables over, she pulled out the tissue paper and peered into the bag. Her eyes widened, and she began to make a sort of gasping noise. The noise grew. The bag slid from her lap as she sank to the floor, wheezing and clutching her upper chest. The beverage cart attendant quickly recognized a customer in trouble and sent the busboy to call 911, while she administered the Heimlich maneuver. A crowd quickly gathered that did not include Ellen and Kay, who remained riveted to their chairs for seven whole minutes until the ambulance arrived.

In a matter of minutes the curly-haired woman emerged from the crowd, still gasping, strapped securely on a gurney. Two well-trained EMS volunteers steered her to the waiting ambulance, while a third scooped up her belongings. The last they saw of the distressed cat-burglar, she disappeared behind the ambulance doors, ………………….. THE Dillard’s bag perched on her stomach!!

Sometimes, God does take care of those who do bad things!

(AND once in awhile.. He allows us to witness it!)

Names of Jesus – Day 4 – Author

I dare say that everyone who looks at the picture of this famous author would know who he was… am I correct? His writings and plays are so famous that they live on today in their original forms. Historians love the old English and dare not disturb or change any of Mr. Shakespeare’s words because they are reminiscent of the age. To change his words and copyright it as our own would be unthinkable! No one would dare to corrupt such a work by such a grand master of words!

Yet, the good old King James Bible is in the same old English and had been known for centuries as the Word of God. Jesus Christ, the Word of God, is the Author of our faith, my friend. The very words of this Author were penned through this inspiration of the Holy Spirit and put into book form for us.

I absolutely love the fact that God used the word author to describe Himself here! As an author myself, I know my writings inside out. I can recognize my poems and my devotionals because I wrote them. I know when they have been changed in some way because I am their creator and I know my creations! I have written these things to explain what is in the deepest part of my heart. I have written these things because I absolutely love words and putting them into reading form that expresses exactly what is on my mind in an understandable manner brings me great pleasure. I try to write so that the reader is not mistaken as to what is my point. I don’t like it when someone comes along and steals my work and changes it or claims it as their own!

The fact that the Lord God chose the word author shows me that the Master Writer of all time, the Perfect and Omniscient God, has written to us to convey a message to us. He is perfect and His word is perfect. The fact that there are only three verses in the Bible that contain the word author is awesome! The number three in the Bible represents the Godhead. What kind of Author is the Lord?

1. He is the author of peace! (1 Cor. 14:33) For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.There is no confusion – no deviation – no changing with God. If His words were to change, that would bring confusion to the church. That is why it is impossible to believe that the catholic church is the one and only true church because they have added to the Scriptures with their traditions and magisterium. Just look at the dogma of Mariology! Nor would God be a promoter of compromise amongst the different “faiths” in the world.

2. He is the author of eternal salvation to those who accept Him as Saviour: (Heb 5:9) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Notice that our salvation is secure in Christ. Our salvation begins at the moment we obey Him and accept Him as Saviour. Notice it does not say eternal salvation after we die but right now – at the moment we obey Him! We do not need to do anything to be saved. To obey is better than sacrifice (1 Sam. 15:22) Christ commands that we repent and be saved. (Act 17:30) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: It’s one thing to say you’re a Christian and you live like hell. It’s another thing to say you’re a Christian and your life shows that you are saved because you are obedient to His Word.

3. He is the author (and finisher) of our faith: (Heb 12:2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. I love this! Jesus Christ not only is the author of our faith but He finishes our faith! Our faith is complete in Him. We do not have to do anything more to add to it. Just as I know my works intimately, our Author knows His work intimately. He knows us by name – He knows every area of lives – He has started His work in us at the moment of our salvation and will finish His work, through the power of the Holy Spirit, at the moment of our death. We are complete in Him – no one can corrupt His work because we are eternally His and His work is incorruptible! Praise the Lord!

Great Quotes from Abraham Lincoln

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.

He has a right to criticize, who has a heart to help.

I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.

I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better.

I walk slowly, but I never walk backward.

My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.

My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.

Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.

The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.

And my favorites….

We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.

With the fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh I should die.

That Martin Luther? He wasn’t so bad, says Pope.

More compromise by the catholic church!

That Martin Luther? He wasn’t so bad, says Pope
Richard Owen in Rome

Pope Benedict XVI is to rehabilitate Martin Luther, arguing that he did not intend to split Christianity but only to purge the Church of corrupt practices.

Pope Benedict will issue his findings on Luther (1483-1546) in September after discussing him at his annual seminar of 40 fellow theologians — known as the Ratzinger Schülerkreis — at Castelgandolfo, the papal summer residence. According to Vatican insiders the Pope will argue that Luther, who was excommunicated and condemned for heresy, was not a heretic.

Cardinal Walter Kasper, the head of the pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, said the move would help to promote ecumenical dialogue between Catholics and Protestants. It is also designed to counteract the impact of July’s papal statement describing the Protestant and Orthodox faiths as defective and “not proper Churches”.

The move to re-evaluate Luther is part of a drive to soften Pope Benedict’s image as an arch conservative hardliner as he approaches the third anniversary of his election next month. This week it emerged that the Vatican is planning to erect a statue of Galileo, who also faced a heresy trial, to mark the 400th anniversary next year of his discovery of the telescope.

What a 4 year old is thinking…..

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones’ chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts.

Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David’s comment.

Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his heart.

“Listen,” she said. “What do you suppose that is?”

He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap – tap – tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked, “Is that Jesus knocking?”

Names of Jesus – Day 3 – Saviour

Have you ever been in a situation where someone rescued you from certain death? I have. When I was 12 years old, I nearly drowned. Had it not been for my brother-in-law, Bob, jumping into the lake after me, I would surely have died. The act of one man saved my life! Bob was an expert swimmer and, thus, was perfectly qualified to jump right in to save me. My sister, Pauline, could not have done this as she did not know how to swim, therefore, she was not qualified!

I sit hear thinking of where my soul would have been had Bob not rescued me! I would be burning in hell, then the lake of fire for all eternity! The fear that I felt at the time I was drowning is nothing compared to the fear that is experienced by those who are now in hell! How I praise the Lord that Bob saved my life that day. It gave me the opportunity to hear the blessed Gospel of Jesus Christ thirteen years later! Although I had been raised in a moral home, a good catholic home, I had never heard the plan of salvation. But one thing is for certain, I knew what it was like to be “saved” from death.

As I meditated on that this morning, I noticed that I could only be saved by someone who knew how to swim. So it is with our salvation. Only someone who could conquer death and have eternal life could be qualified to save us – this was the Life Giver, Himself, Jesus Christ! There is no other that is qualified for the task of salvation, my friend.

Today’s Name of Jesus is Saviour! What a great name it is! There is no one that can say that they died and rose again. Lazarus could not claim this. Although he was raised from the dead, Lazarus eventually did die. Joseph Smith died. Muhammad did die. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, left heaven to take on human form for the sole purpose of dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins! He then rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of the Father!

Only God is qualified to save us! (Isa 43:11) I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. No mere human can save us. Mary cannot save us. Muhammad cannot save us. We have a qualified Saviour in Jesus Christ. Only He can claim this title.

I thought you might enjoy reading Scriptures relating to our Saviour! :-) If you are not blessed by these, your blesser is broken!

(2 Sa 22:3) The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

(Psa 106:21) They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

(Isa 43:3) For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

(Isa 43:11) I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

(Isa 45:15) Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

(Isa 45:21) Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

(Isa 49:26) And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

(Isa 60:16) Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

(Hos 13:4) Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

(Luk 1:47) And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. (Notice Mary said this – she says that God is her Saviour! How could she be sinless then?)

(Luk 2:11) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

(Joh 4:42) And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

(Act 5:31) Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

(Act 13:23) Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

(Eph 5:23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

(Php 3:20) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

(1 Ti 1:1) Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

(1 Ti 2:3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

(1 Ti 4:10) For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

(2 Ti 1:10) But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

(Tit 1:3) But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

(Tit 1:4) To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

(Tit 2:10) Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

(Tit 2:13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

(Tit 3:4) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

(Tit 3:6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

(2 Pe 1:1) Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

(2 Pe 1:11) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

(2 Pe 2:20) For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

(2 Pe 3:18 ) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

(1 Jn 4:14) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

(Jud 1:25) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Names of Jesus – Day 2 – Advocate

(1 Jn 2:1) My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

The words attorney or lawyer are derived from the word advocate. A defense attorney pleads the cause of his client so that his client can be vindicated. Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines it well:

AD’VOCATE, n. [L. advocatus, from advoco, to call for, to plead for; of ad and voco, to call. See Vocal.]1. Advocate, in its primary sense, signifies, one who pleads the cause of another in a court of civil law. Hence,2. One who pleads the cause of another before any tribunal or judicial court, as a barrister in the English courts. We say, a man is a learned lawyer and an able advocate.3. One who defends, vindicates, or espouses a cause, by argument; one who is friendly to; as, an advocate for peace, or for the oppressed.

In scripture, Christ is called an advocate for his people.

We have an advocate with the father. 1 John 2.

AD’VOCATE, v.t. To plead in favor of; to defend by argument, before a tribunal; to support or vindicate.

Can you see it now? Ole slew foot is standing before God and accusing the brethren. I see him as the Prosecuting Attorney trying to convince God that we are guilty and we must be punished! But our Defense Attorney, our Advocate, is there as well, pleading our cause, defending the Christian!

There is a big difference between the lawyers of the world and our Great Advocate! Our Advocate is Jesus Christ, the righteous One! Although we are guilty before a Holy God, our Advocate paid our penalty! Our Advocate paid the debt and we are no longer found guilty. Jesus Christ stands before His Father and fights for us against Satan.

I can hear Jesus pleading my case before the Father, “Father, don’t listen to the father of lies, Satan! Kate believes that I paid her sin debt with my very own blood on the cross. Kate has accepted me as her Saviour and my blood now covers her, Father!”

The Father now sees the blood of His Precious Son, Jesus Christ, and Jesus’ blood covers me and the Father’s judgment of burning eternally in the Lake of Fire passes over me! Amen and amen! Praise the Lord!

As a Christian, it is so important for us to understand the different Names of Jesus. God put those different names in His Word to describe Himself to us. The believer who studies the Bible will glean so much and rejoice because he has a better understanding of the God he serves! Defining the various Names of Jesus helps us to see His character and allows us to love Him even more!
