Scriptural Truths for Roman Catholics – by Former Catholic Priest

If you are catholic, please, I beg you to read this through. This is written by a former catholic priest and it will enlighten you. I am praying that some dear precious catholic will turn to the God of Glory rather than their mother church.

Scriptural Truths for Roman Catholics

THE TRUE CHURCH

The Roman Catholic Church claims to be God’s true Church and all members are to promise obedience to the Bishop of Rome, whom she claims is successor to Saint Peter, Prince of the Apostles and Vicar of Jesus Christ.

The Roman Catholic Church is built on the assumption that in Matthew 16:13-19 Jesus appointed Peter the first pope and so founded His Church and established the papacy. If this is true, then all true Christians must become Catholic. If it is false, the whole Catholic religion is false and cultic and no true Christians could be identified with such a system. We must, then, search the Scriptures in order to know what is true. The Scriptures are not merely the writings of men, “But holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (II Peter 1:21). “All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproving, for correcting, for instructing in justice; that the man of God may be perfect, equipped for every good work: (II Timothy 3:16-17). “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words (the Bible) shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35). Both Scripture and history testify to the authenticity, reliability, efficiency, and sufficiency of the Bible. Though some Catholic translations are better than others, all are reliable enough for general study with Catholics.

When Jesus, in Matthew 16:18, said, “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” He used the demonstrative “this” (taute), pointing to Peter’s confession, “Thou are the Christ, the Son of the living God” as the rock. Jesus said, “Thou are Peter (petros, a stone – all believers are stones, see I Peter 2:5 and Ephesians 2:21), and upon this rock (petra, a huge rock foundation – the confession that Jesus is the Christ), I will build my church”. He did not promise to build His Church upon Peter. Jesus would not have trusted such a precious possession as His Church to the leadership of even one fallible man much less a whole succession of them. The pope of Rome is called the Vicar of the Son of God (Vicarius Filii Dei). In the Bible we find that the Holy Spirit, not a pope, was sent to take the place of Jesus on earth. That is what Vicar means. The Holy Spirit was given to guide us into all truth (John 16:7-15) and the Scriptures were given for teaching, for reproving, for correction, and for instruction (II Timothy 3:16). Christ did not leave His Church to human leadership. Jesus Himself is still the Head of His Church. He speaks to us through His infallible Word, the Holy Scriptures, by His ever present and infallible Holy Spirit.

Let us remember that Christ is the Rock and only Head of the Church. I Corinthians 3:11. For other foundation no one can lay, but that which has been laid, which is Christ Jesus.

I Corinthians 10:4. The rock was Christ.
Ephesians 1:22,23. Head over all the Church.
Ephesians 2:20. Christ Jesus… the chief corner stone.

Around thirty-four times in the Old Testament God is call a Rock or the Rock of Israel. You see, the Bible clearly teaches that when Jesus founded His Church, He was to be the only Head, the Holy Spirit the Vicar and Guide, and the Bible the only authority for faith and practice. All true Christians constitute THE TRUE CHURCH (those in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, who believe and obey Christ’s teachings). True believers were called “Christians”, not “Catholics”.

Acts 11:26 Disciples were first called Christians.
Acts 26:28 Persuade me to become a Christian.
I Peter 4:16 Suffer as a Christian

There were no Roman Catholics until Christianity was merged with paganism into a state religion around 315 A.D. The true Christians obeyed God’s Word, they never joined in the pagan corruption. The gates of hell have never prevailed against the true believers, they are few, their way is narrow, they would rather suffer martyrdom than compromise the Word of God or deny their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. “Go out from her, my people, that you may not share in her sins, and that you may not receive of her plagues” (Apocalypse 18:4). Believers must not be identified with compromising or counterfeit Churches!

THE POPE

The Pope is called “Our Holy Father”. See encyclical letter of Pope Leo XIII in the Douay Version of the Bible. He is also called “Our Most Holy Lord”, Pope Pius X. See Cardinals Oath. Moreri, a famous historian said, “To make war against the Pope is to make war against God, seeing the Pope is God and God is the Pope”. Decius said, “The Pope can do all things God can do”. Pope Leo XIII said of himself, “The supreme teacher in the Church is the Roman Pontiff. Union of minds, therefore, requires, together with a perfect accord in the one faith, complete submission and obedience of will to the Church and to the Roman Pontiff, as to God himself.” Pope Pius X said, “The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ himself hidden under the veil of the flesh. Does the Pope speak? It is Jesus Christ who speaks.” Pope Pius XI once declared, “You know that I am the Holy Father, the representative of God on earth, the Vicar of Christ, which means that I am God on the earth.” All this is blasphemy!

Isaias 44:8 Is there a God besides me?
Matthew 23:9 Call no one on earthyour father.
Ephesians 4:5 One Lord.
Philippians 2:11 Jesus Christ is inthe glory of God the Father.
I Peter 5:3 Nor yet as lording it over your charges.
I Peter 5:1-4 I, your fellow-presbyter.

Peter called himself a presbyter (pastor), not a pope. He refused honor (Acts 10:25,26) saying “Stand up for I myself also am a man”. The apostles argued regarding who was greatest in the kingdom (Matthew 18:1) which indicates that even they did not accept Peter as head of the Church. The wealth and power of the Roman Popes could have come to Peter or any of the apostles. They had charisma, they could heal and raise the dead and perform many other miracles. They could have accumulated gold and land and conquering armies, but they gave away all that was placed at their feet (Acts 4:37, 3:6). They rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 5:41). How could anyone be so naive as to think that the papacy evolved out of such humility and simplicity. The office of Pope is of pagan origin and cannot in any way be substantiated in Scripture. Because of the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit, such an office is not necessary or even desirable.

A police investigation has been launched into an attack in New York City on a rabbi who was kicked and punched by Arabs screaming “Allahu akbar,” the same chant reportedly used by the 9/11 hijackers as they killed thousands of people in the city in 2001.

The report comes from Vox iz Neiaas, which means “What’s News,” in New York.

The incident happened in the jurisdiction of the 78th Precinct, according to the report, and is being investigated as a possible bias crime.

The report said an 18-year-old Arab man grabbed the yarmulke of a Jew at the 4th Ave. and 9th Street train station in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, “while his friends kicked and punched the victim while screaming ‘Allahu akbar.'”

The perpetrator grabbed the rabbi’s head covering, then fled the scene only to be hit by a vehicle on a nearby street. The report said police arrested him and requested an ambulance, but were trying “to brush off the crime as just teenagers who don’t know what ‘Allahu akbar’ means.”

— document.write(adcode); // –>Israel National News identified the rabbi as Oriah Ohana, a 25-year-old from Kfar Chabad, IsraelThe rabbi had chased the suspect who grabbed the yarmulke, and when the thief was hit by a car, the rest of the attackers renewed their assault, “claiming he was the cause of their friend’s misfortune,” the report said.

They all escaped before police arrived except the man hit who was hit by the car.

The Arabic declaration, translated as “Allah is greatest,” often is chanted by Muslims before or during terrorist attacks.

When I Said…

When I said to the Lord, “I am so short of where you want me to be.”
He gently answered “That’s okay. That’s all the farther you and I can walk together.”

When I said to the Lord, “I don’t know who I am.”
He gently answered “That’s okay. I know who you are.”

When I said to the Lord, “I am so tired of fighting.”
He gently answered “That’s okay. Satan is down for the count.”

When I said to the Lord, “My actions aren’t reflecting my heart.”
He gently answered “That’s okay. Mine did.”

When I said to the Lord, “My mind is corrupted.”
He gently answered “That’s okay. Use mine for awhile.”

When I said to the Lord, “I don’t know how to love.”
He gently answered “That’s okay. I will give you free lessons”

Senator Obama Admits He’s Heard Pastor’s Controversial Statements!

Senator Obama Admits He’s Heard Pastor’s Controversial Statements!
March 20, 2008 – Presidential candidate Barack Obama gave a speech on March 18th that was designed to clarify his association with his former Pastor Jeremiah Wright and to discuss the theme of race in America.

Sen. Obama declared his “unyielding faith in the decency and generosity of the American people.”

He also said of his pastor’s anti-white, anti-American remarks: “They expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam.”

However, later in his speech, he says of Wright: “I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother…. These people are a part of me. And they are part of America, this country that I love.”

Sen. Obama also noted: “Did I know [Wright] to be a fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I am sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.”

Yet, until last week, Sen. Obama was denying he was in the pew when Wright made controversial statements against whites, America or Israel. A NewsMax report, however, revealed that last July, he was, in deed, in the pew when Wright blasted white America for the woes of the world and referred to the United States as the United States of White America.

“If Senator Obama could sit in the pew and listen to these diatribes against America, why didn’t he confront his pastor over these statements last year – or any time during the 20 years that he attended this radical church?” asks TVC Chairman Rev. Lou Sheldon.

African-American Scholars Speak Out About Barack Obama

Hoover Institution scholar and author Thomas Sowell analyzed Obama’s speech from March 18. He writes: “There was no way that he didn’t know about Jeremiah Wright’s anti-American and racist diatribes from the pulpit. Someone once said that a con man’s job is not to convince skeptics but enable people to continue to believe what they already want to believe.”

He continues: “Shelby Steele depicts Barack Obama as a man without real convictions, ‘an iconic figure who neglected to become himself.’ Senator Obama has been at his best as an icon, able with his command of words to meet other people’s psychic needs, including a need to dispel white guilt by supporting his candidacy. But President of the United States, in a time of national danger, under a looming threat of nuclear terrorism? No.”

Shelby Steele, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, has also critiqued Senator Obama. He notes of Obama: “His actual policy positions are little more than Democratic Party boilerplate and hardly a tick different than Hillary’s positions. He espouses no galvanizing political idea. He is unable to say what he means by ‘change’ or ‘hope’ or ‘the future.’ And he has failed to say how he would actually be a ‘unifier.’ … Barack Obama stacks up as something of a mediocrity.”

Steele expressed concern over how Obama could stay in a church for 20 years that his own white mother and grandmother would feel uncomfortable attending. And, he wonders how Obama could possibly have exposed his own two daughters to Pastor Wright’s hateful rants for their entire lives.

Steele continues: “Mr. Obama has said of himself, ‘I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views…’ And so, human visibility is Mr. Obama’s Achilles heel. If we see the real man, his contradictions and bents of character, he will be ruined as an icon, as a ‘blank screen.’”

Steele is author of A Bound Man: Why We Are Excited About Obama And Why He Can’t Win.

African-American, liberal Pastor Eugene Rivers of Azusa Christian Community Church was on Chris Matthews “Hardball” on MSNBC on March 14 to discuss Barack Obama’s pastor.

Pastor Rivers said, in part: “Jeremiah Wright is a good man who means well, who has made a series of politically irresponsible, over-the-top statements that have to be simply on its face rejected. … If Senator Obama is as smart as he thinks he is, he’s going to do everything he can to put a distance – reject the statements and distance himself from the sorts of statements if he plans to be president of the United States.”

Rivers also observed of Wright: “… the statements that were made on the heels of 9/11 were simply irresponsible, indefensible statements that were just inappropriate in every conceivable context.”

Rev. Rivers was also on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC on March 19. During the interview, Rev. Rivers stated: “There are 65,000 black churches that serve roughly 23 million black people. I challenge anyone if you go to the overwhelming majority of black churches in the United States, you will not hear that kind of rhetoric.”

African-American leader Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, said: “Barack Obama has received a lot of support from the white community because many white Americans want to put racism behind them …. But after his refusal to denounce and walk away from the racist Jeremiah Wright, I believe this is definitely going to impact his chances of being nominated within the Democratic Party.”

Threatened Oklahoma Politician Refuses to Apologize for Saying Homosexuality is Dangerous and Sinful

“I see no reason to apologize for what God says, that homosexuality is a sin, I will not apologize. I did not say anything false. I did not say anything malicious or hateful.”

By John-Henry Westen

Sally Kern OKLAHOMA CITY, March 20, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Oklahoma House Representative Sally Kern is standing firm in her convictions on the immorality and danger of the homosexual lifestyle, despite some 30,000 emails condemning her, many of which included hateful rhetoric and some death threats. The most hard-hitting portions of a speech she gave to a Republican club on the subject of homosexual activism in America were posted online by a homosexual activist group.

Some 300 activists rallied against Kern at the State Capital Tuesday. In comments to AP, however, she stood firm against the criticisms, stating that she was not engaging in hate speech. “I see no reason to apologize for what God says, that homosexuality is a sin,” she told AP. “I will not apologize. I did not say anything false. I did not say anything malicious or hateful.”

During her original speech Kern predicted she might face trouble for her forthright remarks, but she stressed that she was speaking out of concern for those engaged in a destructive lifestyle. “”The very fact that I’m talking to you like this here today puts me in jeopardy,” she said in her speech. “So, so be it. I’m not anti, I’m not gay bashing, but according to God’s Word, that is not the right kind of lifestyle. It has deadly consequences for those people involved in it. They have more suicides … there’s more illness. Their life spans are shorter.”

Kern asserts that the First Amendment protects her in voicing her concerns about homosexuality and homosexual activism. “I’m not going to apologize for exercising my First Amendment right,” she told The Oklahoman.

She was equally supportive of the rights of homosexual activists to protest her remarks at the state capital. “That’s great they came to the Capitol. This is a free country. They’re exercising their First Amendment right,” Kern told AP.

Activists zeroed in on remarks in her speech when she explained the dangers of homosexual activism to society. “It’s not a lifestyle that is good for this nation. As a matter of fact, studies show that no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted more than, you know, a few decades. So it’s the death knell for this country. I honestly think it’s the biggest threat that our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam, which I think is a big threat,” she said.

A teacher by background, she noted that children from the earliest ages in school are indoctrinated to accept homosexuality as a normal alternative lifestyle.

Kern affirms she has nothing against apologizing for wrongdoings but refuses to apologize for speaking the truth. “When I am wrong, and it is brought to my attention, I will apologize,” she said.
