Out of all the ways people look at the end times, the Pre-Tribulation view is unique because it’s the only one that doesn’t wait on a prophetic clock. Every other viewpoint requires you to check off specific boxes first, like the start of the Tribulation or the revealing of the Antichrist, before the Rapture can happen. But this view is different; it is built on the idea of imminency, meaning it’s a “signless” event that could occur today, tomorrow, or even in the next few minutes. It’s always “on the horizon,” keeping the focus on staying spiritually ready rather than just calculating dates.

Different views:

  1. Pre-Tribulation (imminent – no prophecy needs to be fulfilled – it can happen at any time)
  2. Mid-Tribulation (half-way through the Tribulation at the 1,260 day mark)
  3. Pre-Wrath (at the sixth seal judgment)
  4. Post-Tribulation (after the Tribulation at the 2,520 day mark)

The Pre-Wrath Rapture position maintains that the church will endure a significant portion of the Tribulation, including the Antichrist’s persecution, before being rescued prior to the trumpet and vial judgments. In this view, the seals are categorized as man’s wrath or “birth pains” (Matthew 24), with God’s actual wrath only beginning after the sixth seal. This distinguishes it from the Mid-Tribulation view by placing the Rapture slightly later in the timeline.

Let’s read what the Seal Judgments involve:

Revelation 6:1-17  And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.  (2)  And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.  (3)  And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.  (4)  And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.  (5)  And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.  (6)  And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.  (7)  And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.  ( 8 )  And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.  (9)  And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:  (10)  And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?  (11)  And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.  (12)  And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;  (13)  And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.  (14)  And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.  (15)  And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;  (16)  And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:  (17)  For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

It is difficult to attribute the seal judgments to the Antichrist when Scripture explicitly states that the Lamb is the one opening them. While the chapter concludes by mentioning the “wrath of the Lamb,” this simply marks the moment humanity finally recognizes God’s hand in these events. Considering the Antichrist is initially establishing peace (6:2), it is more biblically consistent to view the massive death toll of the fourth seal and the martyrdom of the fifth seal as part of God’s sovereign judgment.

It is logically inconsistent to credit the Antichrist with the cosmic upheavals of the sixth seal. Furthermore, treating the fourth seal as a minor “birth pang” ignores the staggering reality that one-fourth of humanity would perish. Given our current population of 8.1 billion, that equates to 2.03 billion deaths—an event far more severe than any typical labor pain. While we are seeing the beginning of Matthew 24’s signs today, the seals represent a direct, unprecedented intervention by God.

There is a clear biblical distinction between the Church and the saints mentioned in Matthew 24. Jesus refers to Sabbath-day travel restrictions, a detail that applies to Israel under the Law rather than the Church. We see another contrast in Revelation; while the martyrs in chapter 6 are given white robes, the Bride of Christ in chapter 19 is clothed in fine white linen. These differences in both legal standing and symbolic clothing suggest two distinct groups.

The Different Views of the Rapture

Establishing a defense for the Pre-Tribulation Rapture begins with a clear understanding of how it differs from the alternative viewpoints. At the heart of these lies the element of prophetic timing. To understand why timing is crucial, consider a family member or close friend traveling from far away. Your anticipation fuels your preparation: you stock the pantry, clean the house, and clear your schedule. Similarly, our view on the timing of Christ coming at the Rapture shapes the urgency and nature of our being “ready.”

So let’s cover the different views and see where this takes us. There are four viewpoints when it comes to the Rapture. They are:

  1. Pre-Tribulation (imminent – no prophecy needs to be fulfilled – it can happen at any time)
  2. Mid-Tribulation (half-way through the Tribulation at the 1,260 day mark)
  3. Pre-Wrath (at the sixth seal judgment)
  4. Post-Tribulation (after the Tribulation at the 2,520 day mark)

Let’s start by exploring the Pre-Tribulation position, as its unique characteristics serve as an excellent lens through which to view the entire prophetic landscape. Jesus beautifully captured the “spirit” of this watchful expectation in the Parable of the Ten Virgins. By looking at this story first, we can better appreciate the ‘blessed hope’ of a Saviour who calls His people to a state of perpetual readiness and joy.

Matthew 25:1-13  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  (2)  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  (3)  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:  (4)  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.  (5)  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.  (6)  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.  (7)  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.  ( 8 )  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.  (9)  But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.  (10)  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.  (11)  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.  (12)  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.  (13)  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Pre-Tribulation

This parable offers a stunning portrait of the Bride in quiet anticipation of her Groom. Within the story, we encounter ten virgins; while all possessed lamps, five are described in verses 2–3 as ‘foolish’ because they neglected to bring oil. In scripture, oil serves a dual purpose: it provides light for the journey and signifies the sacred act of anointing for a divine task. This oil stands as a powerful symbol of the Holy Spirit. We find evidence of this connection in:

Isaiah 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Acts 10:38  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

The oil held by the wise virgins signifies the Holy Spirit, whom they received upon being born again. This is the same spiritual anointing and seal given to every believer as a guarantee of their salvation in Jesus Christ. Because they possessed this ‘oil’ of the Spirit, they were prepared for the Rapture in a way the foolish virgins were not.

Ephesians 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 4:30  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

In contrast, the foolish virgins lacked oil entirely. While some argue that having a lamp implies they must have possessed oil at some point, verse 4 clarifies the distinction: only the wise specifically took oil with their lamps. This group of ten represents those who outwardly claim to be part of the Bride. When the cry rang out that the Bridegroom was coming, all ten arose and trimmed their lamps, yet five remained empty. We see this reflected in our modern churches: many individuals ‘play’ church, performing religious works and carrying the ‘lamp’ of profession without ever possessing the true oil of the Holy Spirit. Only the wise, those truly sealed by the Spirit, carry the internal proof required for the day of redemption.

Let’s dig deeper into why the five foolish virgins were clearly not among the redeemed. While they were away at the market attempting to buy oil, the Groom arrived. Think about it: a groom doesn’t just ‘sort of’ know his bride; he recognizes her the moment she appears at the end of the aisle. Our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, is no different. In verse 10, the true Bride enters the marriage feast and the door is firmly shut. When the foolish virgins finally return and beg for entrance, the Groom’s response is bone-chilling. It should serve as a powerful wake-up call, especially for those who haven’t considered the Pre-Tribulation perspective.

Matthew 25:12  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

The Scripture is clear: ‘The Lord knoweth them that are His’ (2 Timothy 2:19). This recognition is the center and foundation of our security. It isn’t based on outward religious performance or the ‘lamp’ of a public profession, but on the seal of the Holy Spirit, who is God. Because He is the one who began the work of salvation in us, He is intimately acquainted with every soul that has been bought by His blood.

John 10:2-5  But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.  (3)  To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  (4)  And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.  (5)  And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

John 10:27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Jesus knows His own with a depth that goes beyond human understanding!! He calls us EACH of us by name. Therefore, when He shuts the door and tells the foolish virgins He does not KNOW them, His reaction is absolute: they did not know His grace. This moment in the parable strips away the facade of the five who carried lamps but no oil, revealing that they were never truly His. Their being left out wasn’t a mistake of timing, but a matter of identity.

A cornerstone of the Pre-Tribulation viewpoint is the doctrine of imminency. This means that Christ’s return for His Bride is not dependent on any prior signs or prophetic milestones; it truly can happen at any moment. While Scripture allows us to discern the ‘seasons’ and the general atmosphere of the end times, the specific day and hour remain unknown; a secret if you will. This ‘any-moment’ expectation is what keeps the believer in a state of constant, joyful readiness.

Mark 13:32-33 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. (33) Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

1Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Luke 12:40  Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

The Rapture itself is a time of anticipation for all believers. The Church longs for the day, and even more so as we see the end times unfolding. Many believers today are saying they have that “feeling” that Jesus could return for His Bride any day now!

Romans 8:19-23 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. (20)  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, (21) Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (22) For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. (23) And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

While the Rapture could happen at any moment, the Second Coming is scheduled for the end of the Tribulation. Scripture provides a clear roadmap for this event, specifically in Matthew 24 and the middle chapters of Revelation. Because we know this return takes place at the end of a seven-year period marked by specific prophetic signs, it lacks the ‘any-moment’ element of surprise. In fact, according to the Jewish calendar, Christ’s Second Coming will occur exactly 2,520 days from the signing of the covenant in Daniel 9:27. We may not know the exact hour, but those who get saved after the Rapture will know the exact day. We know exactly when the clock runs out: at the final close of the Great Tribulation.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the timing of certain events and how we describe the ‘near future.’ We often throw around the word imminent… just what does that mean? As I have said before, the definitions I use come from Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary. He defines it as: ‘Hanging over; impending; appearing as if falling or about to fall; threatening; near.’ When we look at it through Webster’s eyes, ‘imminent’ isn’t just soon—it is hovering right above us.

It saddens me to see how often the Body of Christ is divided over the timing of the Rapture. While many scholars argue for different timelines, I believe there is something uniquely vital about the pre-tribulation position: it is the only one that treats His return as truly imminent. Other views inadvertently turn our focus toward the appearance of signs, the Antichrist, or specific tribulations. But the pre-tribulation hope keeps our eyes fixed upward, knowing that He could come for His bride at any second.

Imagine a homeowner who receives a tip that a thief will be breaking through his front door at exactly 8:00 p.m. You can be certain he wouldn’t be caught napping; he would have the lights on, the doors barred, and his eyes glued to the window. He would be ready because he had a schedule. But what did Jesus say? He warned us in Matthew 24 that His return would be the ultimate disruption of our schedules. He won’t arrive on a timeline we’ve circled in red; He comes at an hour we do not expect, precisely to see who has stayed awake out of love and duty, rather than just reacting to a clock.

Matthew 24:36  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

In the ancient Galilean wedding traditions of Jesus’ day, the timing of the groom’s return was a kept secret; he could not go to retrieve his bride until his father officially declared that the wedding chamber was prepared. This cultural backdrop provides a perfect parallel to the pre-tribulation Rapture. Just as the bride lived in a state of constant, expectant readiness, we too look for a Savior whose return is not dictated by a calendar, but by the Father’s command. It is the ultimate ‘thief in the night’ scenario—a moment of joyous intrusion that catches the world entirely off guard.

Matthew 24:42-44  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.  (43)  But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.  (44)  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Matthew 25:13  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

God is a God of specificity, often marking biblical events down to the exact day. We see this in the prophetic timeline of the Tribulation, which is meticulously mapped out with clear milestones. If the Church were intended to endure that time, the Rapture would no longer be a surprise—it would be an appointment at the end of a countdown. But we are called to watch, not to calculate. It is telling that the New Testament epistles are devoid of manuals for surviving the Great Tribulation; rather, they are filled with calls to find peace in Christ’s imminent return. We are told to comfort one another with these words, a task that would be impossible if we were first destined for the wrath of the seven-year scroll.

1 Thessalonians 4:18  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 5:11  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

If the Church were destined to endure the seven-year Tribulation, Paul’s instructions to ‘comfort one another’ would seem almost cruel. How can one find comfort in the promise of unprecedented seals, trumpets, and bowls of wrath? The believers in the first century were no strangers to pain; they lived under the heavy hand of Roman persecution. Yet, in the midst of their daily trials, they found joy in the belief that Christ could return at any moment. This expectancy is our ‘Blessed Hope.’ It is the only message capable of providing true edification—the promise that we are not looking for the Antichrist, but for the Savior.

Scripture is far from silent regarding the days leading up to the Great Tribulation. From the ‘perilous times’ described in 2 Timothy 3:1-9 to the rise of scoffers mentioned in 2 Peter 3:3-4, the evidence is clear and mounting. Jesus Himself detailed these labor pains in Matthew 24:3-51 so that His followers would not be left in the dark. As we witness the convergence of these signs, we understand that our window of time is narrowing. The promise is nearing its fulfillment; lift up your heads, for the King is at the door.

Luke 21:28  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Jas 5:8  Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

We live in a world of uncertainty, but your eternal destination doesn’t have to be one of them. It is no coincidence that God has placed you here today to hear this warning and this promise. Now that we’ve established the “what” and the “who” of the Rapture, it’s time to talk about the “where.” A common misconception is that the Rapture and the Second Coming are the same event, but the geography tells a different story. While the Second Coming brings Christ all the way to the earth, the Rapture is a divine rendezvous in the sky. Today, we’re diving into why the distinction matters: the fact that the Church is called to meet Jesus Christ in the air, rather than waiting for His feet to touch the ground.

Acts 1:9-11  And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.  (10)  And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;  (11)  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

1 Thessalonians 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The geographic location of the Second Coming highlights its difference from the Rapture. The same feet that left the earth from the Mount of Olives two thousand years ago will return to that exact location. This literal “touchdown” in Jerusalem marks the end of the world as we know it and the beginning of Christ’s earthly reign. His return will to the Mount of Olives will transform the local landscape with a massive earthquake that creates a new valley for those seeking refuge.

Zechariah 14:4  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Because the Church meets Jesus in the air, the Rapture must occur before the Tribulation. This event is defined by the Greek word Harpazo, which means to be “caught up” or “snatched away.” We will be suddenly taken into the clouds to meet the Lord and accompany Him back to Heaven. In that instant, our physical forms will be transformed in the “twinkling of an eye,” trading our earthly bodies for eternal ones modeled after Christ’s resurrected body. While the world might witness the Church ascending, the transformation itself happens too fast for the human eye to capture.

1 Corinthians 15:51-55  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,  (52)  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. [Heaven cannot accept an earthly, corrupt body. This is why a change has to be made.] (54)  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (55)  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 

1 Thessalonians 4:14-18  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. [Jesus will bring the souls of those believers who died before the Rapture to meet their glorified body in the air.] (15)  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  (16)  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  (17)  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  (18)  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I can hardly imagine the glory of that day! For me, the wait began in April 1980, and my heart still longs for the blessed hope promised in Titus 2:13. The topic of God’s wrath remains a subject of intense controversy among believers today. To understand this difficult topic, we must address the concerns: who will be subject to this judgment, why has God determined it necessary to dispense judgment, and what is the timing for this wrath to be fully revealed?

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  (11)  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-8  But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.  (2)  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  (3)  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  (4)  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  (5)  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.  (6)  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.  (7)  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.  ( 8 )  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

First, let us examine the intended targets of God’s wrath. Supporters of mid-tribulation, pre-wrath, and post-tribulation theories suggest that believers will remain on earth for all or part of the Tribulation. However, identifying exactly who God’s wrath is directed toward reveals that the Church is not among them. Based on this distinction, one can only conclude that the Church will be absent when this wrath is dispensed.

Ephesians 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Ephesians 5:6  Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Colossians 3:4-6  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.  (5)  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; (6) fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

If the scriptures identify “children of disobedience,” then it stands to reason there are also “children of obedience.” The distinction between the two is found in their actions and their standing before God. As shown in Colossians 3:4-6, the children of disobedience are defined by the practice of the sins listed in those verses. In contrast, the born-again believer, the child of obedience, is one who has obeyed the Gospel and received full forgiveness and no longer makes sin a practice. The born-again child is not sinless, but will sin less!

1 John 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

From this, we can conclude that God’s wrath is directed specifically at the children of disobedience. This judgment is the consequence of a heart that remains unrepentant and closed to God’s grace.

Romans 2:5  But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

By repenting and receiving Jesus Christ, the Church stands forgiven and protected by His sacrifice. We are spared from the outpouring of God’s wrath that is coming to the world. Paul’s epistles beautifully illustrate this for us: once a person is born again, they are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. This presence of the Spirit serves as a guarantee, sealing the believer safely until the moment of our redemption.

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Now that we have confirmed that God’s Word excludes the Church from His wrath, let us look closer at today’s passage. In 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10, what is the precise definition of the salvation mentioned, and how does it apply to our current understanding? The Greek word for salvation is:

Feminine of a derivative of G4990 as (properly abstract) noun; rescue or safety (physically or morally): – deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.

It is important to recognize that salvation can have different meanings depending on the scripture. While it often describes being saved from sin (John 14:6), Paul’s use of the word in 1 Thessalonians 5:9 is set within a discussion about the Rapture. We must interpret the verse according to that specific theme.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11  But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.  (2)  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  (3)  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  (4)  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  (5)  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.  (6)  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.  (7)  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.  ( 8 )  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.  (9)  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,  (10)  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  (11)  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

We can see a significant shift in the book of Revelation: after chapter 3, the Church is no longer mentioned. Once John is called to “Come up hither” to see the events that “must be hereafter,” the focus changes. The same door that was promised to the Philadelphia church in Revelation 3:8 and 3:10 reappears in Revelation 4:1. This specific door is mentioned only three times in the entire book of Revelation, serving as a key indicator for the Church’s location.

Revelation 3:8-10  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.  (9)  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.  (10)  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Revelation 4:1  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

After the Bridegroom comes to take the Church to the marriage, the door is shut. This follows the pattern Christ established in Matthew 25, where He used the parable of the virgins to demonstrate the closing of the door upon His arrival.

Matthew 25:10  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

When the Rapture occurs and that door is shut, no further entrance is possible, leaving the rest of the world to face God’s judgment. Scripture clearly shows us this shift: chapter 5 of Revelation shows the glory of Heaven, while chapter 6 introduces the Seven Seals. This progression makes it undeniably clear who is falling under the weight of the wrath of the Lamb.

Revelation 6:16-17  And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:  (17)  For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

The question remains: who will be able to stand? If the Church were intended to endure any part of the Tribulation, she would surely be equipped to stand through it. However, this verse suggests otherwise. Friend, your presence here today is not an accident; God has placed you in this moment so that you might find salvation while there is still time. There is a powerful promise in the book of Revelation that I absolutely love! Jesus pledges to keep His followers completely out of the hour of trial: a trial that is to come upon the whole world and all that are alive at the time. Why this special protection? It’s His response to those who have steadfastly ‘kept the word of His patience’ through every circumstance.

Philippians 3:20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

1 Corinthians 1:7  So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Titus 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

1 Thessalonians 1:10  And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Jude 1:21  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Romans 8:19-23  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.  (20)  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,  (21)  Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.  (22)  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.  (23)  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

The mark of a true believer is a longing for Christ’s appearing. This ‘authentic’ new birth is found in those who have truly repented and become new creations in Him. But we aren’t just meant to wait idly; we are told to ‘occupy’ until He comes. To ‘occupy’ means to be engaged in the business of the Kingdom, winning souls, strengthening the Church, and being a vessel for the Holy Spirit. We don’t just wait for the end; we work until the end!

Now let’s go back and look at Revelation 3:10. Jesus says that He will keep us “from” the hour of “temptation.” There are two things here that I want you to look at:

  • The Greek word for “from” is “ek,” which means “out of.” This where we get our word exit. Strong’s defines it as “A primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence motion or action proceeds), from, out (of place, time or cause; literally or figuratively; direct or remote) This does not mean that God will protect the Church through the Tribulation period, as some believe. Jesus said He will keep us out of the Tribulation period.
  • Secondly, the word temptation is used in the verse. This is not referring to being tempted to sin. The word temptation here is referring to a trial. Greek word is “peirasmos” which Strong’s defines as: From G3985; a putting to proof (by experiment [of good], experience [of evil], solicitation, discipline or provocation); by implication adversity: – temptation, X try. Jesus is saying that the Tribulation period will be a time that the world will experience extreme evil. It is a trial that no would willingly want to go through if they knew what was to come.

God has always provided a way of escape for His people, just as He did for Noah and his family in the midst of a corrupt world. We can trust that He will do the same for the Church. Scripture identifies us as the Bride of Christ, and 2 Corinthians 11:2 explains that we are betrothed to Him. As our future Husband, Christ’s nature is to protect. No devoted husband would stand by and let his wife face destruction or endure violence. Ephesians 5:25-27 outlines the sacrificial and protective role of a husband, a standard that the Lord perfectly fulfills for His Church. This fits beautifully into the pre-Tribulation Rapture teaching!

What if the day of the Rapture begins with a beautiful sunrise, with the clouds glowing in deep pink and red as we are changed in the twinkling of an eye? That will be a day of unmatched glory! As you think on this, I pray that you are counted among the faithful who will participate in the Rapture, entering into the joy of the Lord at the sounding of the trumpet!!!

We’ve looked at who is involved in the Rapture, but now it’s time to examine the “guest list” for the Second Coming. This event is fundamentally different from the Rapture in its scope and its participants. Is it for the Church, the nations, or Israel? Let’s look directly at what Scripture reveals about the armies, the survivors, and the King of Kings as He makes His physical return to the earth.

1 Thessalonians 3:13  To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Notice the shift in preposition: it changes from “for” to “with.” In our last study, we saw the Rapture is a rescue mission where Jesus comes for the Church. However, descriptions of the Second Coming show a massive heavenly procession where the Church is already by His side. As Paul notes, He returns with His holy ones. This implies a period of time has passed where the Church was already in Heaven, being prepared to ride out with the King of kings to witness His victory on earth.

1 Thessalonians 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

We know that angels have no need for “cleansing” from sin because they never fell. In 1 Peter 1:12, we are told that the wonders of salvation are things “angels desire to look into.” They are fascinated by the grace shown to humanity because they have never experienced it themselves. Therefore, the “white and clean” army isn’t just a celestial guard; it is the Church returning with her Groom.

1 Peter 1:10-12  Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:  (11)  Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.  (12)  Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

By returning with Christ, the Church acts as a living testimony to His victory over sin and death. We aren’t just spectators; we are the trophies of His grace. As we follow Him on white horses, we manifest the fulfillment of His promise that “where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3). This confirms that the Rapture must have already occurred, allowing the Church to be clothed, judged, and prepared in Heaven to ride out with King Jesus. 

Revelation 19:11-16  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  (12)  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  (13)  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  (14)  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  (15)  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  (16)  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

The Church shares in Christ’s victory. The most remarkable part of this passage is that the “armies of heaven” (the Church) follow Him on their own white horses. This indicates several things for the Bride:

  • Reign with Christ: We aren’t just spectators! We are participating with Him in His triumphal return.
  • From Bride to Position of Authority: Just as the Church is given “fine linen” to wear, we are now given white horses and will share in the victory with Christ.
  • Proof of the Rapture: For the Church to be riding with Christ, we must have already been “caught up” to be where He is.

Revelation 19:8 is the “smoking gun” for the identity of the army. It says of the Bride:

“And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.”

When the heavens open in Revelation 19:11-14, the army following Jesus is dressed in this exact same fabric: “fine linen, white and clean.” Scripture is interpreting itself here. By using the same specific description, God is showing us that the “Bride” from Revelation 19:8 is the “Army” in Revelation 19:14. You cannot have the “righteous acts of the saints” without the saints themselves being there to wear them!

Revelation 19:7-8  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.  ( 8 )  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

When we descend to the Battle of Armageddon, it isn’t a conventional war where we struggle for victory; it is a demonstration of Christ’s absolute power. While the Antichrist and the kings of the earth gather their armies to fight, they are defeated by the mere “sword of His mouth,” the Word of God. As His Bride, we witness the total collapse of the enemy’s kingdom and the binding of the “counterfeit trinity” as we prepare to step into the Millennial Kingdom by His side. Praise the Lord, because this isn’t just about a battle; it’s about a new administration. The Bible promises that if we suffer with Him, we shall also reign with Him (2 Timothy 2:12). The Second Coming is the moment the Church transitions from being “ambassadors” in a foreign land to “rulers” alongside the King of Kings over the whole earth.

1 Thessalonians 5:3-5  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  (4)  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  (5)  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

When we look at eternity, many wonder what remains on God’s prophetic calendar. According to Scripture, the next major event is the Rapture: a moment that will instantly separate the world into two distinct groups. The Apostle Paul distinguishes between “they” and “ye,” revealing a sobering reality for those caught off guard. While those labeled as “they” or “them” reassure themselves with cries of “peace and safety,” believing everything is fine, Paul warns that they are actually ignoring the coming judgment. Because they aren’t looking for God, they will find themselves unable to escape the impending darkness of the Tribulation.

Everything changes when Paul addresses the believers directly. By starting his next thought with the word “But,” he draws a line between the world and the “brethren.” He reminds those who are born again that they aren’t living in spiritual darkness; therefore, “that day,” the terrifying start of the Tribulation, shouldn’t overtake them like a surprise. It’s a beautiful echo to his previous lessons on the Rapture, intended to anchor their hearts in the truth of their exemption from the coming wrath.

Around the globe, born-again believers are eagerly watching for the next great event on God’s prophetic timeline. You may have heard skeptics point out that the word “rapture” never actually appears in the pages of Scripture. But remember, neither does the word “Bible”! While the term itself comes from Latin, the biblical foundation is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. There, the Holy Spirit uses the powerful phrase ‘caught up‘ to describe our coming rescue.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  (17)  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

As I’ve said before, the New Testament was written in Greek and translated into English. The Greek word for “caught up” is:

From a derivative of G138; to seize (in various applications): – catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take (by force).STRONG’S CONCORDANCE

Any way you look at it, the phrase ‘caught up’ points to a supernatural departure. It describes a specific event where believers are snatched away to meet the Lord ‘in the air,’ marking the beginning of our forever with Him. This naturally makes us wonder: who are the ones destined to be caught up?

  1. the dead in Christ will rise first
  2. and then we which are alive

How will they be “caught up” according to the Greek word “harpazo’s” definition? They:

  1. will be caught away
  2. will be caught up
  3. will be plucked
  4. will be pulled
  5. will be taken by force” from this earth into the air!

“The Holy Spirit used this identical Greek term in Acts 8:39 to describe Philip’s experience. After he witnessed to and baptized the eunuch, Philip was ‘caught away‘ and transported by God’s power—giving us a small glimpse of the miraculous departure awaiting every believer.”

Acts 8:39  And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Either way you look at the Greek definition, the meaning is clear: the Church will be removed instantly. In the twinkling of an eye, every believer will be gone, caught up by the power of God.

1 Corinthians 15:52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Make no mistake, Reader: the Rapture only includes those who belong to Jesus: whether they are resting in the grave or still living on earth. The picture above shows the sudden separation: one is taken to safety while the other is left to face the Great Tribulation. Paul’s words are clear: ‘sudden destruction’ will overtake those who remain. It is a horrible reality that some will stay behind simply because they loved their sin more than their Saviour. Will you be ready when that day comes?

Praise God! This truth brings me such incredible peace and excitement, but I realize it may cause others to feel uneasy. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  (14)  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  (15)  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  (16)  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  (17)  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  (18)  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

After reading today’s verses, is the spirit within you excited! Anyone born-again Christian having an ounce of Bible prophecy knowledge knows they will not be here when the Tribulation begins! We see that the Tribulation period begins with the Antichrist signing a covenant with Israel. (Daniel 9:27) Some say this covenant is a peace treaty while others say it is a covenant to rebuild the temple. Regardless of its specific nature, the significance of this event cannot be overstated. It marks the beginning of a time filled with turmoil and suffering never seen before for those who will be present on Earth. But the fact of the matter is that if the Church is to live through the Tribulation, it would mean that it would have to endure through the most horrible and difficult time to come upon the whole earth. This thought can be horrifying, as the events described in the scriptures unfold – wars, famines, and natural disasters, all combined with spiritual deception that will sweep over humanity. When I first heard of the Tribulation, it frightened me in a way I had never been frightened before, and there was an overwhelming sense of urgency to deepen my understanding of these prophecies and prepare my heart for what is to come. Those who become born again after the Rapture will have to engage with Scripture during this tumultuous time.

Notice how verse 18 says to comfort one another with these words? Come on, Paul! How can one be comforted when there’s about to be seven years of horrible events coming to the earth? How can we be comforted when in fact, one fourth of the earth’s population will die at the beginning of the Tribulation during the fourth and fifth seals in Revelation 6? Christians will be martyred during these times as we see in Revelation 6:9-11. In fact, so much so, that we see in Revelation 11:7 and Revelation 13:7 that the Antichrist will overcome the Tribulation saints! This cannot be a reference to the Church because Jesus said that the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church. That means that Satan would not be able to overcome the Church. Therefore, it explains why we don’t see the church after chapter 3 of Revelation. Besides, what comfort is there if the Church is to go through the wrath of God??? So why is Paul telling us to comfort one another? To what is this comfort referring to? The topic of these verses is the coming of the Lord. This is not referring to His coming to earth: Christ’s return to earth will be at the end of the Tribulation. This coming of the Lord refers to Christ meeting born-again believers in the air. It can be viewed that His Second Coming is in two parts: one in the air to meet the Church at the Rapture, and then the second part is when Christ actually steps foot on the earth with His church!

1 Thessalonians 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

So let’s think about this for a moment: if we are to go through the Tribulation, as proponents of Mid-Tribulation and Post-Tribulation Rapture believe, what comfort is there in that? How can we comfort one another as Paul tells us to do in 1 Thessalonians 4:18? I certainly would not be comforted knowing that with each judgment in the seals, trumpets and bowls as written in the Book of Revelation were ahead of me. There’s no comfort or solace in that – there is only fear and apprehension! Where is your next meal coming from because you didn’t take the mark of the beast? Where can you hide without being caught? Where do you sleep? All this apprehension lies within the hearts of Tribulation saints. The Church is Christ’s Bride, reader! What groom would subject his wife to go through such torment? NONE! Our Groom is awaiting to be told by His Father to go get His Bride, the Church! Jesus spoke of this in the verses below! Why would Jesus prepare a house for His Bride and then she wouldn’t go there to be with Him? The post-Tribulation viewpoint doesn’t take that into consideration. They claim that the Millennial Kingdom is the Father’s house with many rooms. But that is not scriptural. Jesus doesn’t enter the Millennium until after the Tribulation. It’s common sense!

John 14:2-3  In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?  (3)  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Jesus left earth to go prepare a place for the Church. So this place cannot be the Millennial Kingdom as that doesn’t come until after the Tribulation period. Jesus, on the other hand, went to Heaven to go prepare a place there so the Bride can be safe with Him during the Tribulation period. Just as Noah and his family were safe within the ark while the earth was destroyed, so will the Bridge be with her Groom in Heaven while the Tribulation period occurs. We can only comfort ourselves IF we believe that we will be kept from those coming judgments! The snatching of the church and taking her to the clouds to meet Christ “in the air” is going to be an event like no other. If you’re a Bible reader, you’ll remember that Enoch and Elijah never died. They were taken up by God. So this is no new occurrence.

Genesis 5:24  And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

2 Kings 2:1  And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

Matthew 24:36-42  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.  (37)  But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  (38)  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,  (39)  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  (40)  Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  (41)  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  (42)  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Many Bible scholars claim that the Book of Matthew was written to the Jews and for the Jews. They also claim that it is not meant for the Church. However, the books of the New Testament were written by Jews, for Jews, and about a Jewish Messiah. To say that the Book of Matthew is not for the Church is ludicrous. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine! The entire Old Testament deals with Jews, Jewish history and Jewish prophecy. So does the Church discard those books as well? Every Scripture is meant for every person. Granted, the Gentile Christian does not participate in Jewish festivals and celebrations out of requirement. If the Gentile Christians wishes to partake for the purpose of seeing the Lord revealed through them, then go for it. OK, so back on point.

Paul was taken to the third heaven in 2 Corinthians 12:2. Also we see Philip, in Acts 8:39, removed from speaking with the Ethiopian eunuch and was gone, vanishing in a miraculous manner. Both were taken or caught away, illustrating a “Rapture” that is both mysterious and awe-inspiring, and both Greek terms used in the original texts were “harpazo,” signifying a sudden seizing or snatching away! This is where the word Rapture comes from and evokes hope and anticipation among believers. Friend, God is able and He will protect His church from the coming wrath on the children of disobedience, a promise that reassures the faithful amidst uncertain times like today. This term is used three times in the New Testament, and all refer to God’s wrath! (Ephesians 2:2, 5:6; and Colossians 3:6)! It serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of rebellion against His will. The assurance of protection and the hope for redemption are central themes in the message of the Gospel, calling each of us to remain steadfast in faith and vigilant in prayer as we see end-time prophecies unfold.

Soar As Eagles – Relieving Fear

2 Corinthians 5:8  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Philippians 1:23  For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Does the cherished love of this earthly life and its blessings outweigh the glorious hope of eternity with the Lord? It is indeed a wonder to hear a believer in Christ speak of fearing death, when we know that dying is to be instantly and eternally present with our Lord. What treasure, relationship, or joy found here on Earth could possibly surpass the unimaginable peace and perfection that await us when we finally see Christ face to face?

But should we live to see the Rapture of the Church, we won’t experience physical death, which many consider a true blessing. What a special reward for those believers who live in the end times as we do!!! This unique event for the Church symbolizes hope and steadfast faith, reminding us of the promises bestowed upon us from God’s Word. The thought of this should excite us to the core, filling our hearts with anticipation and joy as we look forward to a glorious reunion with our Saviour and Bridegroom, as well as the loved ones who have gone before us. 💜 Each day brings us closer to that moment, and it is our Christian duty to remain vigilant, tell people about Christ’s salvation, and encourage one another in our faith.

1 Thessalonians 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Does this not excite you? Does this not set your fears aside, even for a moment? To soar as eagles, we must look at the wonderful blessings of God’s Word rather than our circumstances. The Apostle Paul gave us the perfect recipe on how to develop this mindset and grasp God’s promises in our lives! God’s Word always provides solutions for His child, offering guidance, strength, and comfort during fearful times. If you are a negative thinker, this is the perfect verse to turn that around; it serves as a powerful reminder that we are not alone in our struggles. All things are possible with Christ (Philippians 4:13), who gives us strength us to rise above our fears and transform our thoughts. Grab on to this truth, and allow it to shape your thought life.

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

This verse provides the ultimate remedy for negative thinking. If fear has become your constant companion, it reveals a lack of trust in God’s care for you—when you truly consider it, that’s the heart of the issue. Overcoming fear requires intentional practice, like strengthening a muscle through exercise. Discipline your mind to focus on the virtues listed in Philippians 4:8
and the joy of the blessed hope!

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

With the Rapture of the Church, every earthly fear and worry will vanish. Until then, don’t miss out on the good things, remembering that Nehemiah 8:10b assures us the joy of the Lord is your strength. To consistently dwell in fear is self-destructive, like voluntarily drinking poison while expecting no negative outcome.
